S.H. Figuarts continues it’s stroll down Bat-memory lane with the release of The Dark Knight Joker. He comes after the release of The Dark Knight Batman earlier this year. This is the trench coat version of the Joker, featuring his purple suit and coat. He comes with several accessories including a rocket launcher, machine gun, knife and Joker card, all of which come straight out of the movie. There was some chatter about this one due to the initial pictures of the heads, but we think it’s worthy of a second look. Read on to check out over 40 HD images after the break!
Overall Thoughts:
As a figure goes, everything is on point until you get to the faces. Articulation, accessories, hands, paint application, sculpt – all tops as S.H. Figuarts tends to do. Based on initial promo images and even in person shots with harsh lighting and weird top-down angles, the faces looked like they could use some work. And they still could. HOWEVER, they are not as drastically off as I originally thought. There is a “smirk”, a “smile”, and a “stare” face in this set. The “stare” face is actually really well done. The way it’s sculpted, it works best tucked down, looking forward. When you hit that with dramatic light, it screams Heath Ledger. The “smirk” face is close, but the mouth throws it off. And the “smile” face, not so great. Now, all of these would be fine, well sculpted and painted faces if they weren’t trying to capture the likeness of an actor. But they are, and it immediately draws your attention that something is off. That being said, everything else about the set is super well done, and if you rock that “stare” face, he is a worthy addition to your collection. Especially when paired with the well done TDK Bats and upcoming Batpod from S.H. Figuarts.
