Shipping out this month is the Gremlins – Ultimate Stripe Figure from NECA Toys. This figure brings the devious leader of the Gremlins to life with an all-new ultimate body sculpt (also used on the Ultimate Gremlin) and some great movie themed accessories. Standing 6″ tall ,this figure has about 25 points of articulation, including adjustable ears and a hinged jaw. Accessories for this release include a Chainsaw, a Skateboard, and a saw blade. Stripe also include synthetic hair, as opposed to it being sculpted.

Overall
The Ultimate Stripe is packaged in a nice collector friendly flapped window box. The front of the packaging features a nice tribute to one of the original Gremlins posters, a variation of the one used on the Ultimate Gremlin and probable the most memorable of the initial posters. The back of the box shows off just a few of the many display options the figure can pull off. Stripe sits on a plastic tray, held in by a few twist ties. The figure includes a chainsaw, the skateboard and a saw blade.
The main body sculpt for Stripe is pretty much the same one used on the Ultimate Gremlin, which was to be expected. The head sculpt is new though, and has a nice resemblance to Stripe, and a different expression than the Ultimate Gremlin. The figure sculpt is still outstanding, with nice detail work on the skin textures. Articulation is handled well, with a nice range of motion. All of the joints were nice and tight, but without any paint locking issues. There’s no issues in getting the figure to stand in any pose I tried, or on the Skateboard. A smart addition to the figure is the synthetic hair for Stripe’s mohawk. You can style it a bit to get the look you want. But be warned, hair will fall out as you are messing with the figure.
Paint work is excellent here, with a couple additional paint apps compared to the Ultimate Gremlin. It’s most noticeable on the spikes right under his eyes. The main paint is a very dark green, with lighter tans, yellows, and oranges used throughout to break up the form a bit. There is a thin clear coat that adds some extra shine to the figure, which adds to the creepy design of the Gremlins. I didn’t notice any major paint issues. Eyes were crisp and clean, and paint lines had no noticeable paint bleed.
While only three accessories are included here, they are quite well made. The chainsaw is really solid feeling, with lots of printing, and what appears to be an inside joke or two. The blade of the chainsaw is a solid plastic, and there’s no warping issues. They even have a dangling plug for it, which is a great extra touch. The Skateboard is also handled well, with spinning wheels, a textured top, and a cool faux wood plank paint job on the underside. The wheels are cast in a semi-translucent red, while the trucks have a good metallic finish to them. A nice touch is the NECA logo on the underside of the trucks. The saw blade works for what it is. Stripe can hold it without too much fuss. The only thing really missing is a pistol, but I believe that was nixed by the license holder.
Stripe is a great addition to the growing Gremlins Ultimate Line. With a strong sculpt, nice paint work, and some fun accessories, there’s no reason at all to skip this. Check out soem select photos below and the full gallery after that.
