The Tamashii Nations Pacific Rim line has run strong throughout 2018. The final release of the year was their Pacific Rim: Uprising – Hakuja SOFVI Spirits Vinyl Figure. The figure, the smallest of the Kaiju released in the SOFVI Spirits line, measures about 11″ head-to-tail. It’s scaled to work with the Robot Spirits Pacific Rim: Uprising figures. Bluefin sent the figure along, and we have a quick gallery and review for Hakuja.

Hakuja is the smallest of the Kaiju for the Pacific Rim: Uprising line up. While it measures about 11″ in length, it stands only a few inches tall. I photographed him with Shrikethorn here to showcase the smaller size. The base sculpt, like all of the SOFVI Spirits releases, is quite excellent. There’s a lot of fine detail work on the scales, claws, and teeth that give it a great look. The paint job highlights those details well, with some great smooth transition work between the colors. Certain areas have a metallic wash over them, adding a bit of variety to the color scheme.
With this being a vinyl figure, articulation was always going to suffer. That’s been the case on both of the previous Pacific Rim releases in the SOFVI Spirits line, and it’s no different here. While Hakuja’s multiple legs all have some form of articulation, I wouldn’t consider it useful. The standard pose is really the only one that works. This is fine for display, and keeps it sturdy to support your Jaegers climbing on it to do battle poses.
The Hakuja figure is a fine addition to the SOFVI Spirits line. It’s excellent detail work and paint scheme will look great on the shelf. If you’re looking for something with a bit more articulation, this may not be the figure for you, but as a display piece with the Jaegers and other Kaiju, it’s quite nice.
