The newest release in the Crash Bandicoot line up from NECA is their Jet Pack Crash Bandicoot Deluxe 7″ Scale Figure. This release features Crash from the video game Crash: Warped, complete with new head sculpt and a removable jet backpack. This follows their original Crash Bandicoot standard figure, and the Deluxe Jetboard Crash. After this, they will be releasing a Scuba Gear Crash figure. At toy Fair 2019, we should hopefully get our first look at the expanded line up, which will include additional characters from the game series. The Jet Pack Crash is available in stores now. Overall
Crash comes packed in a blister card. The card is is similar in design to the standard Crash release, featuring game artwork on the front and back. A single photo of Crash flying is on the back, as is a check list of previously released and upcoming figures. Other than the jet pack, Crash doesn’t include any additional accessories.
I’ll keep this relatively brief, and focus mainly on the new items. Crash uses the same body as the previous two Crash releases. Articulation, joint quality, and paint are all perfectly on par with those, which is great. What’s new here is the head sculpt and the jet pack. This head sculpt is unique not only for the expression, but the permanently attached goggles. The goggles look really cool here, with slightly textured clear plastic covering the eyes. The eyebrows, which are not articulated, are affixed above the goggles, but attached to the brown strap that wraps around Crash’s head. The expression itself is different as well. The included jet pack is well made, with a sturdy plastic back, and soft rubber used for the straps. You can easily remove the pack if you’d like. I simply slid it down over his shoulder and pulled the figure out. No need to remove any limbs, or even the feet. The pack also slid back on with no trouble at all. Paint work on the new pieces is solid again. No real issues popped up while handling the figure.
While fans looking for a additional characters might not be into the third Crash in a row, this is till a really fun figure to pose and display. Of the three, this is definitely the the most unique. I loved that the Jet pack was easily removable as well. Check out some select photos below, and the gallery after that.
