For the 10th anniversary of the films release, NECA is revisiting the Friday The 13th reboot with a new Ultimate Jason Voorhees Figure. When the film was originally released in 2009, NECA had produced a figure based on that films Jason. The film tells an all-new origin story that pays homage to the original series. The young disfigured Jason witnesses his mother’s death, causing him to grow up in isolation near Crystal Lake. When young adults trespass on his territory, the now adult Jason meticulously takes out each to protect his land. The film mainly pays homage to the first three films in the original franchise. We see Jason first in the sack mask disguise, and then in a hockey mask that he discovers.
With the new Ultimate figure, NECA resculpted the body from their original release, adding new articulation, packed in more weapons, and modified the unmasked portrait. the figure has just begun to show up in stores. Friday The 13th 2009 – Ultimate Jason Voorhees 7″ Scale Figure by NECA

Overall
Jason comes packaged in a collector friendly flapped window box. The packaging features poster art on the front, with a selection of official images on the back showcasing the different display options. The figure is packed on a plastic tray, with a few twist ties holding him in place. Included with the figure is head sculpt with removable hockey mask, a sack head portrait, an interchangeable right hand, a machete, an axe, a screwdriver, a fire poker, and a “hammer”.
In the film, Jason was presented as a hulking force of nature, with survival and hunting instincts that made him seem especially dangerous. The figure is one of the tallest Jason’s they’ve produced in the 7″ scale line, and it does a great job of representing his onscreen appearance. The figure definitely has a very unique look among the previous takes on Jason. Instead of the overalls of Part 2, or the collared shirt and pants of parts 3 through 8, Jason has a heavy jacket, with tattered pants and a soiled t-shirt. also unlike many previous versions, Jason is portrayed with stringy hair that drapes over his shoulders. The sculpt work is fantastic, with realistic texturing on the clothing and skin. The head sculpts look great in hand, with the unmasked portrait looking particularly gruesome, with great heavy skin pore work and a chilling expression. Joints are handled well, and don’t take away from the overall appearance.
NECA opted for single jointed elbows and knees here. While I do with he had those extra points of articulation, it keeps him in line with the previous Jason figures. About the only thing I’m not a fan of is the way the strands of hair are handled. They seem just too thick for my tastes and take away from the silhouette a bit. Definitely no deal breaker though. Especially when you look at how well the sack head works with this look. I honestly think I prefer that portrait for the figure. Combine those positives with the great weapons assortment, and there’s a lot to love here.
The paint work is really impressive here. The highly detailed sculpt is brought to life thanks to the dirt covered look that Jason has here. The black coat benefits some heavy brown, blue and gray washes that work great. The clothing looks heavily weathered and soiled. The paint on the hockey mask is probably as detailed as the alternate heads for the Dream Sequence Jason. From top to bottom the paint work is handled with precision.
With fans warming up to the reboot over the last decade, and a great attention to details, you have a figure that is hitting at just the right time. Sculpt, paint, and accessory selection are fantastic, and it makes a nice alternate look to the previous Jason figures. Check out some select photos below, and the full gallery after that.
