Hiya Toys Injustice 2 Wave 2 – Toyark Photo Shoot

Injustice 2 continues the story of an alternate DC Universe, where Superman took control of the Earth, and ruled it as a ruthless dictator. After Batman brings a group of heroes from another dimension to help, Superman is ultimately defeated and imprisoned. But, when Braniac sets his sights on Earth, Batman is forced to free his former ally, risking everything he fought for.

The next wave of Injustice 2 Figures from Hiya Toys is set to hit retail this quarter. Their line up of figures is expanding regularly, with over 15 figures either about to release, or currently in production. The Batman and Superman figures are in stores now (see our gallery by Clicking Here). The assortment contains three figures; Swamp Thing, Red Hood, and Harley Quinn. The 3.75″ scale figures each come with interchangeable hands and character themed weapons.

Overall
Each figure comes packaged in a simple collector friendly window box. They sit in a plastic clamshell tray for easy storage. Swamp Thing has a set of interchangeable hands and a staff. Harley Quinn includes swap out hands, two pistols, a baseball bat, a mallet, and a knife. Red Hood includes swap out hands, two pistols, a knife, a bomb, and a detonator.

These new figures from Hiya are pretty much in line with what I’ve come to expect from their figures. This wave features some solid sculpts all around. Swamp Thing is by far my favorite of the group. Even at the small size of the line, his detail work stands out. With foliage growing over his torso, and sharp hard lines defining his physique, the figure is imposing looking when paired with any other figure in the line. Red Hood turned out fairly nice as well. His release is definitely a step up over the Superman and Batman figures, as much of the detail work from the prototype made it into the figure. His detailed design from the game translates well to figure form, as there’s a variety of textures used to showcase the mix of combat armor and stylish costume work. The jacket is a soft plastic piece that keeps the range of motion intact. The armor has noticeable texture work to help with the metallic look. Harley Quinn’s base sculpt is fine as well. The costume turned out great, with nice faux stitch work on the jacket (which is soft plastic like Red Hood’s), as well as the pants.

The plastic in use here is on the soft side, which is what we can expect throughout line. While this keeps the figures fairly light, and can help prevent breakages, it does tend to cause a few issues. Swamp Thing and Red Hood were complete free from any locking joints, breakages, or overall issues. I was able to pose them and swap out their hands with no trouble at all. Their joints stayed into place well enough to stand in any pose I tried, and they both had good balance. Harley Quinn presented a few different trouble spots though. The hips on this figure were locked, and heating up the joints didn’t help much, as the plastic is already soft. With stress marks forming on the hip joints, I decided to leave them as is. The wrist on one of her hands snapped off as the joint was very small, and just barely attached to her arm. Superglue helped repair that. The white on Harley’s face paint is applied fairly thick, and it looks to have clumped in a few spots. That’s really only noticeable up close, but it is visible.

Overall, this is a fairly solid wave. Swamp Thing is highly recommended if you’re into the size class at all. Red Hood is a close second, and Harley has the potential to be solid if you can avoid quality control issues. The figures retail for about $20 each, and should be released fairly soon.
