In Halloween II, the story continues moments after the events of the first film. Michael Myers, after being shot numerous times, flees the scene. An injured Laurie Strode is transported to a Haddonfield Memorial Hospital. As Michael stalks the halls of the hospital, looking for the victim that eluded him earlier in the night, Dr. Loomis learns a terrible truth. Laurie Strode is actually Michael’s sister, and Michael seems to have learned that fact as well. Loomis and Laurie confront Michael together, hoping to stop his rampage and end the nightmare. The events of the film were eventually retconned in Halloween 2018, removing the relationship between Michael and Laurie, and erasing all the sequels from canon.

During the Cult Classics days, the Halloween license was one of NECA’s most popular. In the early 2000’s, NECA had released Michael Mysers as a stand alone figure, a ghost sheet version, a 2-pack with a younger Michael, and a 2-pack with Dr. Loomis. When NECA began revisiting horror icons for their Ultimate line, Michael Myers provided to be the most requested figure. The original releases had skyrocketed in value in the after market, and fans were looking for a more affordable way to add “The Shape” to their collection. Difficulty in licensing the original film seemed to hamper any chances of seeing a new version. But, when the reboot/sequel launched in 2018, it opened up chances to license not only that film, but some of the original films as well. Sadly, the 1978 original still remains out of NECA’s reach. However, they have used Halloween 2 to give fans a new 7″ Michael Myers, updated with better articulation, new masks, and more weapons.

Overall
Michael Myers is packed in the familiar flapped window box we see for all Ultimate Figure releases. The front features the iconic poster from the film. On the back, NECA showcases the various accessories and swap out parts included. Twist ties and tape hold everything into the plastic tray. The figure includes a standard mask, a bleeding eyes mask, a Ben Tramer mask, multiple interchangeable hands, a hammer, a scalpel a knife, a syringe, and pumpkin with a skull inside.

After the excellent 2018 Michael Myers figure, I had high hopes for this release. After messing around with the figure during the shoot, it’s great to see that my expectations were met. The figure has a very good sculpt for the body, that does a great job of looking like the jumpsuit worn in the film. The three head sculpts shine here. The two main Michael Myers portraits doe a nice job of matching this particular film. In the sequel, actor Dick Warlock donned the mask, and he had a more full face that filled out the mask more than Nick Castle did in the original, where the mask was a bit looser looking on his head. Also included is a “Ben Tramer” mask, who was a trick or treater wearing a similar mask. He was mistaken for Michael Myers and accidentally killed in the film. Paint work is excellent, with clean lines, and nice layering to bring out the sculpted details. You can clearly see the eyes through each mask, and they didn’t seem to have any issues. The figure has about 25 points of articulation, including double jointed elbows.

While not the full array we normally see with something like a Jason Voorhees release, the figure does include some solid weapon choices. While most will display him with the knife, it’s nice to have film specific options like the scalpel and syringe. The figure also has a few swap out hands, and those changed out without any issue. The wrist joints are small, like the 2018 Michael Myers, but the hands snapped on easier than that version. Also included is a pumpkin, from the opening of the film, and it can open up to reveal the skull inside. I thankfully ran into no quality control issues here. The joints held their poses well, and I had no paint locked parts or overly loose joints.

It’s great to finally be able to own a classic Michael Myers without paying the price the originals demand these days. The figure looks outstanding, and has some really nice display options. Check out a selection of photos below, and the full gallery after that.
