Friday The 13th Part 3 – Corpse Pamela Voorhees 8-Inch Scale Figure – Toyark Photo Shoot

In Friday The 13th Part 3, once Jason is defeated, Chris Higgins, the final girl from the movie, having finally escaped Jason on a boat on Crystal Lake. There, she  has a dream where she hallucinates being chased by a still alive Jason Voorhees, looking to exact his revenge. As she tries to escape on the boat, the decomposing corpse of Pamela Voorhees leaps from the water and pulls her into Crystal Lake. The ending is an homage to the first film, where a child-like Jason jumps from the water.

NECA is releasing a new figure based on this scene. Their Friday The 13th Part 3 – Corpse Pamela Voorhees 8″ Scale Figure is shipping now to retailers, and has begun to show up in stores. The figure is part of their clothed retro figure line. Our friends at NECA have sent over the figure for review. After the jump, you can read my take on the figure, and check out my photo gallery. Unfortunately, this is also the final action figure NECA will be producing from the Friday the 13th franchise for the time being. Due to ongoing legal issues surrounding the ownership original film, most new merchandise has to be put on hold.

Overall
Being a classic licensed figure, the Corpse Pamela comes packed in the resealable clamshell packaging. The card is is from long time NECA collaborator Jason Edmiston, and makes for a great display piece of its own. No accessories are included. For those wondering, you can easily open this type of packaging. Along the edges of the card are small tabs that are heated to seal the clamshell. Simply slide a razor blade or box cutter between the two pieces of plastic and carefully cut those tabs. Move slowly and they’ll cut fairly easily, leaving the full clamshell intact.

The figure itself is another step forward for the clothed figure line. The new head sculpt is incredibly creepy, and highly detailed. From the bloated look of the skin, to the worms protruding from her face, there’s a a nice amount of detail here. NECA also added some synthetic hair, which blends in very well to the portrait. The decomposing skin is used on the hands and up the forearms as well. The body type is the same as we’ve seen in past female figures, which offers some solid articulation. The feet themselves seem to be sculpted with an angle to them, and I figure it’s meant to be displayed in a more walking pose, rather than a straight standing one. I didn’t have any trouble getting the figure to stand, but it’s a bit tougher to get the feet to plant correctly.

The cloth outfit feels like a strong step in the right direction here, especially compared to the first Pamela Voorhees release. The sweater is less puffy, and sits more naturally on the figure. There’s nice wear and tear built in, as the sweater has rotted holes throughout. Same with the pants, which look to be similar to the style they use on their Freddy Krueger 8″ releases. They sit on the figure nicely, and don’t restrict the range of motion, but still look fairly natural for the size of the figure. Paint is not only applied to the sculpted parts of the figure, but also to the clothing as well. This makes everything look more consistent, and less like freshly cleaned clothing. On the portrait, the paint does a great job of complimenting the detailed sculpt, with multiple layers of application that sell the rotting look. Separation lines are sharp and clean as well.

This turned out to be another excellent addition to the Mego inspired line up. A great new head sculpt, some of NECA’s best soft goods yet, and great paint work make this a must own for fans of the film. The figure pairs great with the Part 3 Jason, or even the Part 1 child Jason figure. Check out a selection of images below, and the full gallery after that.
