In the Scream film franchise, the Ghost Face persona is shown with a haunting white mask and a Halloween costume cloak. Ghost Face’s look can be easily imitated by anyone. This allows the killers to change from film to film, revealing themselves only when they feel their plan to kill Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is announced to the audience. The new 8″ scale Ghost Face figure from NECA pays homage to the character’s appearance from the entire franchise, as opposed to a single film. The figure is an updated version of the 8″ scale Ghost Face that was released back in 2014. The figure includes a fabric outfit, a knife, a voice changer, and a swap out right hand.

Overall
Ghost Face is packed in the plastic clamshell packaging that many of the 8″ scale figures use. The front of the packaging features artwork by Justin Osbourn, whose previous NECA work has included Snake Plissken and Nightbreed’s Decker. The back showcases a few photos of the figure. Ghost Face includes a knife, a voice changer, and an interchangeable right hand. For those wondering, you can easily open this type of packaging without destroying it. Along the edges of the card are small tabs that are heated to seal the clamshell. Simply slide a razor blade or box cutter between the two pieces of plastic and carefully cut those tabs. Move slowly and they’ll cut fairly easily, leaving the full clamshell intact.

With a figure of this nature, there’s not much to talk about sculpting wise, as 99% of the figure is covered by a fabric outfit. For this release, it appears as if NECA is using their 2.0 retro style body as opposed to the 3.0 body. The only thing from that body type I think that would have benefited this release are the rocker ankles. Otherwise, I was fine with the available articulation. He can hold the knife and voice changer in natural looking “slasher movie” poses, and the range of motion is pretty good. The joints were solid here, with nothing feeling weak or locked. The main sculpted item here is the mask. I think it looks fine in hand, but did notice fans had mentioned something looked a little off in promo pics. When compared side-by-side with screen shots, it does look like the eyes are more closed on this sculpt. I don’t think that’s a deal breaker, but I wanted to mention for this wondering. The figure doesn’t require a ton of paint work, but there (mainly the mask) is pretty spot on. The black edges on the eyes and mouth didn’t show and paint bleed.

The fabric cloak looks fantastic in hand. It’s a very thin material that drapes fairly naturally over the figure, without adding unnecessary bulk. It doesn’t hinder the arm or torso articulation either. The fabric hood that comes up over the Ghost Face mask has a wire that runs through it, keeping the opening from draping down too low. It’s easily bendable, so you can adjust the opening to your liking. There are fabric pants under the cloak as well. Ghost Face includes a swap out right hand. One is made for holding the voice changer, the other is a tighter grip for the knife. The hands swap out with no issues. The promo pics and product page on the NECA website show a cell phone accessory, but that was not included with the figure.
