TMNT Cartoon Series – Triceraton Infantryman and Roadkill Rodney Set by NECA – Toyark Photo Shoot

In Season 7 of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series, airing in 1993, the Triceratons made their lone TV series appearance. Claiming Earth to be part of the Triceraton Empire, the dinosaur-like villains attempt to transport Earth to their homeworld to strip it of its resources. A quick thinking Donatello thwarts them when he convinces the invading Triceratons that he is the ruler of Earth, and that the power and intellect of the Turtles was far superior to theirs.

A newly released set by NECA Toys features a Triceraton Infantryman, and two Roadkill Rodney’s. The set is a Target Exclusive in the US, and has been making its way to stores over the past month or so. Our friends at NECA have sent over the pack for us to check out. Overall
This 3-pack turned out to be a really fun set to handle. The Triceraton Infantryman is a fantastic addition to the line, and the main draw of this set. It’s a large figure, towering over the Turtles. Articulation on the Triceraton is handled really well. Double jointed knees and elbows allow for some dynamic posing, and the ball joint connected ankles can hold the figures hefty weight surprisingly well. The joints were nice and smooth, with no paint locking issues, and no fear of breakage. The paint is pretty clean, and the colors are vibrant. There are different hands for each weapon, which all have a nice tight grip. The hands swapped out with no trouble. It’s just a great looking figure that has a lot of nice display options.

The two Roadkill Rodney’s made a great addition to the set. While there’s not a lot of poseability to the figure (not that there should be), they come with a few really good accessories. They each includes a small speeding effect, which attaches to the wheel and acts as a display stand. I love how that bit of functional design is blended with a nice looking accessory. The robots can twist at the wheel base, and include bendable wire arms. The main set of arms are shorter, while a longer pair is included can be used to lasso the Turtles. There are two swap out domes for each Roadkill Rodney. The first is a battle damaged one that Raphael’s sais fit perfectly into. The other is a drill bit. You can disconnect the heads of the robots, and attach them to rubble effects with the drill bit to depict the robots tunneling to the surface. The only issue on these is that some of the paint is misaligned, leading to bleeding edges. It’s not as noticeable at arms length, but did become apparent on closer inspection.

There was a lot to like in this set. All of the figures prove to be good additions, and the assorted accessories are impressive. It also makes a perfect troop builder pack. Check out a selection of images below, and the full gallery after that.
