Today we have a look at the newest Holiday figure from NECA Toys. This year they teamed up with The Misfits to release the Holiday Fiend, a Santa themed version of their mascot. The 8″ scale figure features a cloth outfit, a cloth Santa hat, two interchangeable portraits, two sets of hands, and a fabric Santa’s toy bag. The figure is available in stores now, and sells for about $35 (depending on retailer). Our friends at NECA sent the figure over to check out. Overall
The Holiday Fiend is the third figure released in collaboration with The Misfits. They’ve previously released The Fiend in a red cloak, and the black cloak. The figure includes two portraits, with corresponding hands. The first portrait is based on the classic look of The Fiend. The second portrait is based on artwork by the late Basil Gogos. The figure is packed in window box packaging.
If you’re a fan of The Misfits, then I would say this is a pretty solid pick up. The portraits are both excellent, and different enough to be worth swapping out occasionally when displaying the figure. The peg connection for the portraits is really tight, and I suggest having a hair dryer handy to loosen up the portrait for easier swapping. The velvet-like fabric outfit is quite nice. It’s not overly bulky, and features wiring around the bottom to help it fall how you would like. The Santa hat is fabric, with wiring along the length so you can pose it how you would like. I can see fans using that hat on a number of other figures to add a little holiday flair. Also included is a green fabric Santa sack, which also includes wiring to keep it looking full. While none of the included hands are specifically grip hands, the bag did fit well and the figure was able to hold it without trouble.
