Predator 2 – Scout Predator Ultimate Figure by NECA – Toyark Photo Shoot

In stores now is the latest member of the Lost Tribe from Predator 2; the Scout Predator. The figure is now available in stores, and today we have an in-hand gallery and review. The Scout Predator was seen briefly at the end of Predator 2, as part of the Los Angeles hunting party. The Lost Tribe made themselves known to Detective Mike Harrigan aboard the Yautja Ship after he defeated the City Hunter Predator in hand-to-hand combat. In the film, the Scout Predator used some elements of the Jungle Hunter Predator from the original film, including a near identical helmet.

Overall
The figure is packed in a collector friendly flapped window box. The front of the packaging includes all new art by Tristan Jones, who is known for his aliens and Predator artwork for Dark Horse Comics. The figure includes masked and unmasked portraits, multiple interchangeable hands, a rifle, two smart discs, collapsed and expanded combi sticks, a firing effect, and swap out attachments for the back.

The figure is very similar feeling to the Jungle Hunter Predator. While the armor is different, the figure is close in design to the original Predator (as he was in the film). Es expected, the sculpt is good, and all of their current upgraded articulation is there. one of the joints presented any problems. Hands swapped out pretty easily. The heads had a bit of a tighter fit on the peg connection, but snapped into place with a little extra force. I didn’t need to resort to the hair dryer here. Paint is clean looking at arms length, and nothing jumped out at me as being problematic. The only real issue I ran into was the Plasmacaster (shoulder cannon). It didn’t quite fit into the shoulder armor, and would fall out almost any time I moved the figure. However, it’s a good looking addition to the Predator line, and a great addition to the Lost Tribe.

To help really differentiate this from the Jungle Hunter, NECA added some interesting accessories and an all-new unmasked head sculpt to add some personality to the figure. The unmasked head sculpt is great looking, with large mandibles, and a mean look on his face. Swap out heads liek this are always welcoem on the Predator’s. the other major new addition here is the long range blaster rifle, and it’s a fantastic addition. It has an extendable barrel, and collapsible feet on the bottom. There is a folded up version of the rifle that can be mounted to the figures back, or you can place the full rifle there. There’s also a small armor piece that can be placed there when you have the Scout holding the rifle. The rest of the accessories are repurposed from previous releases. It’s nice they are included to pad out the release, but I can’t imagine many fans displaying him with the combi stick or smart disc when he has such an interesting rifle included.

The Scout Predator is a worthwhile purchase for fans of the line. The upgraded body adds a lot of articulation, and there are some really fun accessories and swap out parts. Look for the figure in stores now. You can see a selection of photos below, and the full gallery after that.
