Coztro 1/6th Figure from Ashley Wood’s New Underverse Label

Ashley Wood has been doing his thing for a while now, bringing a dark unique art style to the world. On the toys front, he didn’t settle and created 3A along with partners to bring his visions to life. 3A disbanded last year, splitting into two different entities. ThreeZero took over the duties of licensed merchandise like Transformers, The Walking Dead and more. They’ve expanded on that front significantly with new licenses galore. The traditional Ashley Wood style 3A figures like World War Robot, Tomorrow Kings, Adventure Kartel and more – moved over to his new label – Underverse. They’ve been building out the brand slowly over time at Underverse.com, and the toys are starting to flow.

Their first full figure to initiate the jump back into gritty detailed toys is Coztro. He’s 1/6th scale and is in the ASHTRO LAD universe, Ashtro Lad being his take on an Astro Boy style bot. Coztro is not a bot though, new storylines reveal he’s one of many freedom fighters that adopt the Ashtro Lad helmet and some steel boxing gloves in order to battle the evil WOMM. They toy plays on this by being shipped blind boxed with one of four color schemes.

Underverse is in full swing with multiple statues and figures from the Ashley Wood Universe. Tomorrow Kings, World War Robot, Ashtro Lad and more all have incoming product. You can check it all out here.

The crew over at Underverse were kind enough to send through a sample to check out, so read on to see our pics of the big guy along with some additional thoughts.

Coztro is the first new figure from the Underverse brand. 1/6th was always big for 3A, and they are digging back in here. This figure is using a base third party body from WorldBox. Going forward, all new figures from Underverse will use a stylized body designed by Ashley Wood unique to them and will be produced by Worldbox. Overall it hits the marks, poseablity is there, has a nice wash, hands/feet/head pop on and off easily. I have to say though, I am less experienced in the world of 1/6 figures so don’t hold me to task on this body vs others. It did what was needed for me, here and now.

The clothing is excellently done, I always admired the bonkers vibe and attention to detail going on with 3A stuff before, and that continues here. He’s a little more simple than the upcoming NOMAD or HINKON in terms of gear, but it’s not vanilla. Printing on the tee, great baggy shorts, a nice set of weathered kicks. The head and gloves feature great weathering as well, along with some digi print.

As said before, there are 4 variants of this figure, shipped blind. I got the grey head variant, but there is a yelllow, blue and all black version as well. The yellow and blue versions have a lighter “skin” tone on the helmet.

All in all it’s a nice way to kick things off for Underverse, simple but sets the tone. As they move forward I think that 3A legacy will continue with unique toys from the Ashley Wood ~~universe~~ Underverse.
