Halloween Kills – Michael Myers Ultimate Figure by NECA – Exclusive Photo Shoot

Starting Friday, October 15th, the next chapter in the rebooted Halloween franchise will be released. The film will hit theaters, and will be available same day on Peacock Premium for those who would rather watch at home. Halloween Kills picks up immediately where 2018’s Halloween left off. Michael Myers escapes from the burning house of Laurie Strode to continue his rampage in Haddonfield. However, those terrorized by Myers in the 70’s rally the citizens of Haddonfield to take on Michael Myers, and stop him for good.

Our friends at NECA have provided us with an advanced sample of the Halloween Kills – Michael Myers Ultimate 7″ Scale Figure. The figure includes two interchangeable portraits, three interchangeable left hands, two knives, a baseball bat, a shattered light, a Halligan bar, and a blood covered Silver Shamrock Skull Mask accessory. Overall
Michael Myers comes packed in the same flapped window box style we’ve been accustomed to with Ultimate Figure releases. The front of the box features the poster for Halloween Kills. The back includes photos showing the various accessories and the figure. As mentioned in the intro, the figure includes two interchangeable portraits, three interchangeable left hands, two knives, a baseball bat, a shattered light, a Halligan bar, and a blood covered Silver Shamrock Skull Mask accessory. Everything is packed on a classic plastic try for easy storage.

It shouldn’t be a shock that much of this figure uses main body pieces from the 2018 Michael Myers figure. The articulation is the same as that release, with double jointed elbows, and an articulated waist hidden under the soft vinyl overlay for a more seamless torso. Range of motion is good, and you’ll easily be able to have him hold the baseball bat with two hands, or get in more dynamic poses as desired. The biggest addition is the all-new head sculpt, which features heavy burn marks on the left side of the face, and a bloody gash on the right cheek. The head sculpt is a nice improvement over the original 2018 Michael Myers figure, though that has seen a running change with a more accurate portrait recently (sorry, don’t have that one in-hand). It’s highly detailed with a lot of intricate details. There are two versions of the head sculpt here, one with almost completely blacked-out eyes, and one where the eyes are more visible. There doesn’t seem much different between the two other than that, so I expect most fans will pick one and stick with that for their display. The torso has also been retooled to add heavy burn marks on the left side of the figure, as well as other damage he sustained in the previous film.

Paint work overall is handled nicely. Heavy black soot style paint is scattered throughout the figure, more concentrated on the upper left side, and fades out nicely from there. On the body and head sculpts there are nice pops of blood red peeking out from behind rips and tears. The head sculpts have some especially impressive paint applications, as the mask has mixes of blacks, grays, and subtle yellows covering a mostly white face. The bare hands are less orange this time out, and have a more natural color appearance, and they are also covered in blood and soot.

The accessories included here are a nice mix of classic and new. You get both a blood covered and a clean kitchen knife, which is Michael’s go to weapon of choice. However, it’s nice to see some all-new weapon types here. The Halligan bar (the steel looking bar with the hook on the end), and the busted office style light bulb are a nice change of pace from the standard axes, knives, and machetes most horror characters wield. The baseball bat is nice, but I expect a lot of fans to repurpose that for other figures. I did like that he could hold the mask accessory, though it’s sized just right to act as a head sculpt for those that want to.

I didn’t run into any issues with the figure while handling it. The joints moved without any trouble, and they were fairly tight. After a few hours of posing, and messing with the figure, I didn’t notice anything getting loose. The hands and head sculpts swapped out with no issues. The right hand (the grip hand) has a very tight grip, so I do recommend warming that a bit before trying to have him hold the knives, as I’ve run into issues in the past with that knife design breaking while trying to place in tight grips.

This is a really nice addition to the Halloween line up. The burned look really sets it apart from previous figures. The sculpt, paint, and accessories are all good reasons to pick this up. Check out a selection of images below, and the full gallery after that.
