Underverse is the new home of artist Ashley Wood after 3A divided into two back in 2019. Licensed stuff went with ThreeZero, and the Ashley Wood properties went with Underverse. Things are picking back up with some old faithful items – 1/6th scale World War Robot figures, including today’s NOM Hinkon Tracker. For those that need a refresher on World War Robot:
via 3AFans – World War Robot (WWR) is a graphic novel illustrated by artist Ashley Wood and written by both Ashley Wood and TP Louise. The [art] book combines an unconventional use of pairing painted images and essays to tell small parts of a larger story. The prose include excerpts from various diaries, journals and transcripts based around the humans involved in a fictional war in the 1980-1990s known as the Great War.
3A, and now Underverse, have served that story for a while releasing high end product with faithful representation to the lore. Post-apocalyptic themed humans in crazy military gear and non conventional robots, it’s a unique world that stands on it’s own.
The NOMs are the first two “traditional” returns to the WWR lore. NOM Hinkon featured here has a brown jacket and white helmet, and Nomad NOM which released around the same time is darker all around. Both also have other subtle differences throughout.

NICE. Premium feel on this guy head to toe. The split could have made things go either way, but luckily quality is still top notch. Premium materials are present throughout – weathered and painted hard surfaces for realism, convincing leather and wool on the jacket with a working zipper, a t-shirt that lays right. Denim that moves with the figure and is well tapered. Boots on quick glance close up you can’t tell – they even have laces fully done through eyelets and tied up.
Accessories aren’t crazy – a pistol that goes in a working holster, some cannisters which attach to the gas mask tubes, and sit in a leather harness, extra hands, and PC Squared – his little robot buddy that needs carrying around. All are well done. Hands popped on and off easily, but a little warming couldn’t hurt.
I didn’t strip him down, but the body seems functional. All positions were hit, nothing broke. Feels good under the heavy layers of stuff on top.
I’ve always enjoyed WWR and Ashley Wood’s art in general, but this was my first real dig into WWR figures. I hope to keep it up, they just feel good in hand. If you are into WWR, Ashely Wood, or just some bad ass 1/6th figures – there really isn’t anything to keep you away from these. Worth a pick up.
