Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. Asperity Infantry Footsoldier of Chaos BBTS Exclusive Action Figure
Open warfare between the Accord Loyalists and The Ascension began during the fighting at Konrad’s Fort. This frontline fortification was chosen as the site of the first battle by Ascension leadership. They believed seizing the fort named after the previous King would be a propaganda victory. During the pitched battle between the human forces, a regiment of Asperity Knights arrived, having independently planned their own attack on the fort. The loyalists carried the day, successfully defending the fort from Ascension troops, however Asperity fell upon the battered survivors of Ascension as they withdrew, wiping them out and harvesting their bodies as hosts for more of their kind.

As the war against Asperity entered its second year, the Elves of Queen Solan joined with Accord and fought on the front lines. Many of the more traditional lords of Accord disagreed with King Lance’s acceptance of outside help. Accord had always stood alone, its people afraid of outsiders, especially nonhuman ones. A schism occurred: powerful noble families split off from the chain of command, demanding that Accord go it alone. These powerful families allied with the Dragon Cult of Lord Vehemous and spread their propaganda to the masses. Internal strife followed. Initially using the cult members as foot soldiers, who were of limited use due to their poor training, the families later hired professional human mercenaries, turning them into a small private army: The Ascension.

Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. Ascension Bowman Psychic Scout BBTS Exclusive Action Figure
It is much easier and far less expensive to train a bowman than it is to train a knight. So that is what Accord did once the design of the English Longbow was made available to them. Thousands of common folk could join the army and become a useful warrior in months. The powerful bows, capable of accurate shooting at ranges up to three hundred yards, could pierce basic plate armour at short ranges and were particularly useful at penetrating helmets even at long range. Accord first used bowmen in open combat at the Battle of the Lake. An Asperity army, hemmed in by the lake on one side and thick forest at the other, were funnelled into range and suffered a fusillade of arrows. Once their bodies were too damaged to flee or fight, Accord’s mages used incantations to kill the fallen wraiths. The Ascension has few bowmen in comparison to the main Accord army, but has cast a spell on those it has. Each bowman is bonded to a Hawk or Falcon, which acts as a pair of eyes in the sky for the archer.
