Voltron returns to the ThreeZero figure line with an updated paint deco. They have announced the Voltron: Defender of the Universe ROBO-DOU Voltron (Retro Toy Edition) Figure. The paint deco is inspired by the original 1981 Voltron figure release. It includes five transformable lions, and an assortment of weapons. The figure features diecast construction, and stands about 10.6″ tall. Pre-orders go live April 15, with a release set for sometime in the Second Quarter. Check out more below.
Voltron: Defender of the Universe ROBO-DOU Voltron (Retro Toy Edition)
A new ROBO-DOU Voltron variant has arrived with an electroplating silver finish that faithfully revives the charm of retro toys! From the extremely popular 80’s series Voltron: Defender of the Universe, ROBO-DOU Voltron has taken the world by storm, and the remarkable ROBO-DOU Voltron (Retro Toy Edition) is now available, paying homage to the first released Voltron collectible in 1981!
Accurately following the path of its predecessor, ROBO-DOU Voltron (Retro Toy Edition) is a non-scale, fully-articulated figure standing approximately 27cm (~10.6”) tall in Voltron mode with a remarkable die-cast main frame. This collectible variant maintains the robot’s iconic retro aesthetic with an impressive electroplating silver finish to emphasize on the nostalgia of the classic mecha look. This Retro Toy Edition includes two exclusive sets of metallic decal sticker sheets, recalling the enjoyable experience in hand-detailing collectibles of the past; while the remaining set of stickers can be used on the previously released ROBO-DOU Voltron series items.
The classic Voltron is recreated utilizing ROBO-DOU engineering to achieve a wider range of articulation and better combining functions than its contemporaries. ROBO-DOU Voltron (Retro Toy Edition) is composed of five Lion mecha, and is able to split into Lion mode, or combine to form Voltron. All five Lion mecha are fully-articulated figures partly adopting zinc alloy and metal parts for the movable joints. Combined, the figure utilizes 124 points of articulation for the total of five machines, with a set of Voltron mode weapons in addition to a unique set of weapons for each Lion.
