Robocop figures have been making a major come back in the last year plus. The reboot film from last year definitely had a hand in reigniting the Robocop fandom. Probably not in the way the studio hoped. The new film clearly pushed most fans more towards collectibles featuring the iconic 1989 design instead of the new version. Toy and collectible companies took note and we started to get some great collectibles from the likes of NECA, Enterbay, Pop Culture Shock and Hot Toys. And the newest Hot Toys Robocop is the subject of today’s gallery. We have the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series Diecast MMS202-D04 – Robocop 1/6 Scale Figure.

Overall
This is the first ever Hot Toys figure I have purchased. Robocop is one of my favorite films, and I’ve wanted this since I first saw it. Luck and good timing allowed me to order it just as it was released. The figure comes packaged in a large box, which splits in two near the bottom to reveal the foam insert. Everything is easy to remove and drop back in for storage. The figure stand and remote are hidden in the back of the foam. The figure is ready to go right out of the box.
You’ll notice immediately that Robocop is an very heavy figure. It’s the type of weight I would expect from a statue of this size. Diecast metal is prevalent throughout the figure, and it has a nice new shine to it. The areas that are plastic look to have the old cellphone style paint on them, which mimics the look of the diecast near perfectly. The figure includes two closed fists, two hands with fully articulated fingers as well as an extra hand with his computer access needle extended. Also included are interchangeable, battle damaged face mask and chest plate, three different lower faces with various expressions, and two Auto 9 handguns. One of the Auto 9’s are plastic, while the other is diecast metal. The plastic version has an articulated recoil, which was a nice touch.
Posing Robocop was a joy. The joints are tight without feeling like they will snap. Parts swapped out easily, and nothing broke or felt like it was going to. The articulation itself is hidden very well, so there aren’t any oddly exposed joints. The right hip opens to expose a holster for the Auto 9, and it doesn’t fell brittle or hinder the figure in any way. One of the main highlights of the figure are the articulated hands. The look great and have an insane amount of poseability. They not only open and close, but can rotate and spread apart. Once I had placed them on the figure, I didn’t want to take them off. The included lower faces are also great. The paint on them is quite realistic, and the expressions are varied enough to make them worth swapping out once in a while.
There are two battle damaged pieces included as well. The chest plate feature some great bullet holes, scrapes and exposed wires. The battle damaged face mask, however, is the major highlight. I didn’t realize, until I was processing the images, that one of the eyes is exposed behind the damaged visor. It’s touches like these that truly set this apart from other Robocop figures I’ve ever owned.
The figure also includes built-in sound effects. It uses an included remote control, hidden in the Robocop name plate, to activate them. I didn’t get to try them, as the batteries for Robocop are not included and they are an off size battery that I didn’t have handy. The only other downside to the figure is the lack of a fully unmasked Alex Murphy head. That’s coming with the fully battle damaged Robocop.
