NECA Rambo NES Video Game Series Figure Photo Shoot

NECA’s extremely popular Classic Video Game Series continues with the release of their Rambo 8-Bit NES Style Figure. This figure is a repaint of their Rambo: First Blood Part II John Rambo 7″ Figure. It features a very detailed cel-shaded paint scheme which was inspired by the NES game. Toyark sponsor Entertainment Earth has provided us with the figure and we have a full photo gallery and review.

Overall
For me, NECA continues to impress with their creative approach to the classic video game figures. Rambo, based on an absolutely awful NES game, takes a few liberties with the paint details to deliver a very strong appearance. Rambo has a ridiculous amount of paint and line details. The detail work on the face alone is staggering.

Rambo comes packaged in the standard NES style box, fitting in perfectly with the existing collection. It includes a bow and arrows, a knife, a rocket launcher, a grenade and multiple swappable hands. As with all NES style figures, Rambo includes a game screenshot backdrop.

Once opened, you may want to take a hair dryer and apply a bit of heat to the joints to loosen up any paint overlapping. I spent about 2-3 minutes in total doing this as I do, now, with every figure I buy. Once that’s done, the articulation is fantastic, with over 25 points of articulation on the figure. The best part about this is that it includes a bow and arrows, and the Rambo figure can actually hold them correctly. I will caution buyers that the string is glued to the bow, and to not pull too hard. I did that and the string came unglued, however it took less than 5 minutes to re-glue it back on and have it set. As you can see from my pics, you can’t even tell it came loose.

Not advertised, but still very cool, is that the colors on the figure allow him to stand in as Lance Bean from Contra. Now we just need an appropriately painted Arnold Schwarzenegger. As of this writing, I feel that the Rambo figure may be one of the best releases in the classic video game series. It runs neck and neck with the Robocop and Predator, as the paint schemes on those are equally as detailed. Bottom line is this is a must buy for fans of the NES series or Rambo fans in general.
