The latest figure in NECA’s line of “Ultimate” 7″ Scale Figures has been released earlier this month. The Terminator 2: Judgement Day – T-800 Ultimate 7″ Scale Figure is the first Terminator figure in the Ultimate line. With Terminator 2 versions of Sarah Connor, the T-1000 and NECA hinting that the T-800 from the first Terminator film is a possibility, this will be far from the last. The figure includes three swappable heads and multiple weapons. The figure features over 25 points of articulation. We have the figure in hand from Toyark sponsor Entertainment Earth. Overall
Of all the Ultimate figure coming from NECA, the Terminator line will be one of the hardest to pick a single look for each character. For Terminator 1, you have two very different looks for the T-800 and Kyle Reese (if they choose do do the latter). But, for Terminator 2, the T-800 is the easiest of the bunch. He had, mostly, a single look throughout the film. So the real challenge was for them to pick which accessories to include. NECA basically decided to include ever major weapon from the film, as well as three iconic head sculpts. The result is a figure that has a great value for the $20 price tag (yes, this is just $20 at Entertainment Earth). The figure comes packaged in the standard flapped window box. The package includes a Cyberdyne office building backdrop. Teh backdrop itself is on some very thick cardboard, making it super sturdy. The figure works really well standing in front of it. The package has an overall solid design. The figure is held in with just a few twist ties.
The T-800 has a fantastic sculpt. Longtime NECA fans will recognize that the base body is actually the same as the previous Terminator 2 T-800 figures. It does make sense to use the previous body, as the sculpt was excellent. The team there has cut in new leg articulation, which blends seamlessly into the folds of the pants. The new leg articulation complements the upper body articulation nicely. Of note is that the left leg features some articulation. NECA has stated on Twitter that this may be used for a future release, but they didn’t elaborate. However, by doing this, they’ve actually aided in making the figure more stable. It allows for nice action and walking poses without the use of a figure stand. The jacket, pants and head sculpts all feature small, intricate details that rally stand out due to the finer paint details. There’s barely a spot on this figure that doesn’t feature at least a little bit of paint. The new set of paint details, the new leg articulation and three updated head sculpts gives the figure a fresh feel to it. To round out the refresh, NECA dropped in a a pistol, a shotgun, a grenade launcher and a minigun with ammo bag. Though my minigun featured bent gun barrels, I have seen other people who’ve had perfectly straight ones. So this may be an exception. Even at a quick glance, this is an impressive release.
If you’re a fan of Terminator figures, then this is a must own. The great sculpt, excellent likeness, and plethora of accessories add up to an rally fun release. At a price f $20 – $25, the overall value is incredible here. This sculpt is also being used on the upcoming NES T-800 figure release.
