At last years San Diego Comic-Con, NECA revealed the first Pacific Rim Ultimate 7″ Scale Figure. At the event, we were given our first look at the Ultimate Striker Eureka Figure. The crew at NECA went back and completely remade the Australian Jaeger with an all-new body, adding in new details and more articulation. NECA used the digital files directly from Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) to ensure film accuracy.

Overall
Striker Eureka is a Mark 5 Jaeger from Australia as seen in the Pacific Rim film. It’s one of the last Jaegers to be constructed and is one of only two Jager’s to make it to the final battle alongside Gipsy Danger. Being the first Pacific Rim Ultimate release, Striker Eureka gets a beautiful overall package. The front of the box features excellent new artwork. On the inside, the box design mimics one of the hanger bays for the Jaegers and makes for a great display on its own. The backdrop diorama display shows a cityscape on a waterfront.
The sculpt on Striker Eureka is excellent. It features sharp, fine details throughout. Striker Eureka includes an interchangeable chest piece, rockets and a Nuclear Payload from the end of the film. The chest pieces can be swapped from the standard or an open piece. The open piece features rocket launching bays and the figure includes three rockets that can be placed in any of the bays. Each rocket features a different size smoke trail, which is a small but fun detail. The chest piece swaps out very easily as do the rockets. The Nuclear Payload can easily be stored on the back of the figure.
The forearms each hide two scissor blades that can fold out. Swappable, open palm hands would have been really welcome here, as it would have added an extra bit of personality to the figure and made posing with the blades a bit more interesting. Articulation is excellent with over 25 points easily. The legs, especially, feature a few spots where articulation is hidden quite well within the mechanical parts. Paint is also handled well, as lines are mostly clean and crisp. There’s a lightly used darker wash over the figure to bring out finer lines and panels.
The build quality of the figure is good here. Once out of the box, Striker Eureka is quite heavy. It feels very solid and I didn’t run into any breakages or paint locking. However, the hips on my Striker were pretty loose. It didn’t prevent it from standing, but it was noticeable when changing poses.
This is an excellent figure overall. It’s a great way to kick off the Ultimate Pacific Rim line. The newly sculpted body, great articulation and excellent parts all give you nice value for the price (about $20).
