Pacific Rim fans were treated to a surprise addition to a recent Lootcrate subscription box. NECA released their long awaiting Battle at the Docks Gipsy Danger exclusively through the subscription box. The figure, which was on display way back at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, features highly saturated blue paint scheme, crushed shipping containers, an interchangeable hand, and an elbow blast effect, that can also be used on the Jaeger’s wrist if you’d like. When the Ultimate line of Pacific Rim figures was announced, and a new Gipsy Danger was revealed, many fans thought this figure would not see a release. Having it as a pack in with Lootcrate ensures the figure saw a release, while not putting another Gipsy Danger on shelves while the Ultimate version was being sold.

Overall
The Gipsy Danger mold has been covered by a lot of people through the various releases and iterations. So we won’t get too detailed here. The figure comes packaed in a really nice window box. The back of the packaging features the same art used in the Ultimate version packaging. The front is a full window, showcasing the figure and the contents. It’s similar in nature to the packaging NECA has used on their Terminator: Genisys and Rocky 40th Anniversary figures. It’s eye catching, collector friendly and worth holding onto.
This version of Gipsy Danger includes some fun accessories; two crushed shipping containers, an interchangeable hand, and an elbow blast effect. The shipping containers and elbow blast are not included with the Ultimate version, which gives fans a good reason to try and track down this release. By using the Gipsy Danger 2.0 mold (first seen in their Hong Kong Brawl Gipsy Danger), fans get the superior version of Gipsy Danger compared to the earliest releases. The 2.0 mold has a larger scale, better articulation and an overall improved sculpt. Joints were tight, no paint locking and the interchangeable parts were easy to remove and snap back in. Paint is handled well. The colors are more saturated than previous releases, giving the figure a darker, nighttime look.
It’s always nice to see a figure released that seemed to be cancelled. Fans looking to complete their Pacific Rim line shouldn’t have too much trouble tracking this down (prices on ebay range from $30 to $45). It has some nice exclusive accessories, a great paint scheme, and uses the better of the Gipsy Danger molds. Check out a few select photos below and the full gallery after that.
