The Dark Souls: Knight of Astora, Oscar 1/6 Scale Statue is available now from Gecco. This is the first character the player meets inside the Undead Asylum from the original Dark Souls video game. Known as the Knight of the Undead Asylum, the name Oscar comes from a text dump of unused content from the Dark Souls game. The name has stuck ever since, and is now used in official merchandise to identify the character. The statue from Gecco stands over 12.5″ tall atop a small, themed base. Fans who pre-ordered the statue from Gecco also received a 1/6 Scale Crystal Lizard from the game.

Overall
Geccos’ Oscar statue comes packed in a nicely details Dark Souls inspired windowless box. The packaging features ornate deign work inspired by the game, pics of the statue and background info on the character, as well a listing those who worked on it. Inside the box, you will find a cardboard backdrop, which also includes instructions. The statue sits in a clamshell plastic tray and requires some minor assembly that should take no more than a few seconds. This is a fully pre-painted statue, so once the sword and shield are attached, and you place Oscar on the base, it is ready for display.
Once assembled, the Oscar statue is an impressive Dark Souls collectible. The character stands ready for battle, holding a large crest shield in one hand, and his straight sword in the other. The base is sculpted to resemble the Undead Asylum flooring. The sculpt work on the Oscar statue is impressive. Each area is handled with precision, as there are varying textures present for the sculpted cloth, armor, and leather pieces. Armor has numerous knicks and scratches to represent battle damage, which is a welcome touch. The front of the chest, and the borders of the tunic feature intricate filigree work, that looks quite good upon close inspection. As usual, there is some extra effort put into the representation of Oscar, as you can even see faint bits of his face through the slots in the helmet. Paint work is spot on, with no noticeable bleeding between edges, and sharp lines throughout. The armor has a great metallic paint coat, while the sculpted fabric areas have a more matte finish to them.
Also included here is the 1/6 scale Crystal Lizard. As a separate piece, you can display this directly with Oscar, or as its own piece. The Lizard is mostly solid gray, with blue crystals embedded throughout. The crystals appear solid, but close inspection shows that they have just the slightest translucency to them. The Crystal Lizard is about 4″ in length.
As expected, The Knight of Astora, Oscar statue is another worthy collectible from Gecco. With strong sculpted details, strong paint application and a simple, yet fitting pose, the statue is going to look great on your shelf. Check out some select photos below and the full image gallery after that.
