The 1/1 scale Plasma Pistol Replica, from the popular Fallout video game series, is available now from Chronicle Collectibles. They Bethesda’s in-game 3D assets to create the Plasma Pistol, ensuring a game accurate appearance (save for the required orange tip). The collectible role play item is designed to be handled as well as displayed, as it’s cast in a durable plastic, as opposed to something like Polystone Resin. The pistol measure 15″ long and includes multiple light up LED’s throughout (batteries included). Overall
Fallout is a game I’ve only played ever so briefly. I never had the time to commit to the game, so I only know it in passing. I do enjoy the designs that have come out of the series, especially the various Power Armors. But, I don’t have any sentimentality towards how close the collectible designs are to the game. In cases like this, as long as they look cool, I’m happy. From that angle, I’d say this is a really impressive collectible, especially when you take the price into account.

The Plasma Pistol is packed in a windowless box, which is modeled after a carrying case or the pistol. The gun sits inside with just a plastic tray for the handle, and a cardboard piece to protect the orange tip. A set of instructions are included to show how to swap out the batteries. The Plasma Pistol does come with batteries pre-installed. No assembly is required, so it’s ready for display or use as a cosplay accessory right out of the packaging.

The construction is solid. The entire gun is plastic, but has just the right weight to it. The pistol looks like it should be a bit heavier, bu won’t weigh you down or tire your arm out if you’re walking around a con with it. The pistol has a heavy amount of painted on weathering detail, which gives it a nice metallic look. While it looks like wiring is coming off the base and the back, those are actually hard plastic pieces molded right on. I gave them a nice pull, just to test how stable they are, and it never felt like they were going to break off. The left hand side of the handle houses a button that activates the light up feature. The sides and cylinders at the top all light up green. The low is bright enough to be seen in general lighting. The pistol features a working trigger as well, but I do wish that activated either a sound effect or maybe adjusted the brightness of the LED’s or something that felt functional.
