Tactical John Wick Chapter 2 By Diamond Select Toys Gallery

How about the lining? Tactical. John Wick is back for another round with Diamond Select Toys Select series of figures with Tactical John Wick from Chapter 2. This features Mr. Wick in his all black suit – Italian, 2 buttons, tapered legs and “tactical” lining, of course. He comes packed with a ton of accessories this go around – Assault rifle, weapon belt with 2 removable pistols, 2 removable clips and another clip for the rifle, wooden case with another pistol and clips, a 4th solo pistol, gold coins, extra hands that hold a coin and the infamous pencil, his trusty dog – Dog, and a life size blood oath marker. We’ve run it through a session to show off what he’s capable of. Read on to check it and some additional thoughts out courtesy of Diamond Select Toys!

Overall Thoughts:

The figure is modern Select scale – which is supposed to run around 7 inches. The first John Wick from DST was larger than that, coming in at a beefy 7.5 inches or so. This one is even BIGGER, coming in at 7.75 inches. The sculpt, head and body are less diesel this go around so it feels less of a brick in hand, but it’s still a big figure that doesn’t scale with much else.

The head sculpt is there, but the paint is not. Skin tones are a blotchy pinkish red, far from the near perfect tones on the first. The beard paint also took a step backwards, losing it’s refined application. Instead, we get a less detailed blob of black paint. Sculpt *may be a bit skinny, but that’s just on the cusp of being an issue. Good paint could make that issue obsolete. The prototype and it’s pic on the box is not what came inside. You can do a head swap, but it won’t be easy. The pegs are dug into each side pretty well, will require lots of heating up and even then may not full work. I fudged a pic below to show generally what could be.

Articulation is great, double jointed everything, torso, wrists, ankles all do their job, especially for a suited figure Only draw back – the arms sit in resting position super far out, like he’s got two invisible pillows under his arms. This usually happens on big frame guys, not suited thing frame figures. Suited guys need that slimline resting arm to they full on touch the torso.

Accessories are top notch, a wide array of options, clips for guns, role play marker, and Dog. Dog is not articulated, but a great sculpt and good companion. Only downside – i could not for the life of me get the belt around his waist and actually closed again. So that whole cool getup with the extra ammo and clips – not easily achieved in the field. :)

Bottom line – first release was better as a figure, and I think the best Wick figure out there. The accessories were better here. Execute the arms better and fix the head issues, and it would have been tops. Right now it’s good shelf filler or backup for Wick 1.
