Originally released in 1998, Ringu (aka The Ring) has gone on to become one of Japan’s most popular, and iconic, horror franchises. The film tells the story of a mysterious video cassette, that if watched, will cause the viewer to die 7 days later. The contents of the tape are weird and disturbing. On the 7th day, the ghostly Sadako will appear on the closest screen, and emerge from the video to take her next victim. The film was followed by multiple sequels, a TV Series, a US remake, and even a crossover with The Grudge called Sadako vs. Kayako.
Next year is the 25th anniversary of Ringu, and Good Smile Company is releasing a new figure to mark the occasion. They have announced a Nendoroid Sadako figure. The 4″ tall figure will include two interchangeable face plates, interchangeable hair parts, Sadako’s well, a video tape, and background sheet to display Sadako crawling out of a TV.
The figure is priced at $51.99 when ordering directly from the Good Smile US Shop. Sadako is scheduled for release in September 2023. You can see the new photos after the jump.
