Mighty Joe Young Statue – Ray Harryhausen 100th Anniversary Statue

The latest collectible in the Ray Harryhausen’s 100th Anniversary collection has been revealed by Star Ace Toys. The Mighty Joe Young Statue by X-Plus features Ray Harryhausen’s oversized gorilla battling a lion as seen in the 1949 film. A Deluxe Version will also be available, which adds two additional lions for a larger display. The statue stands over 13″ tall. Mighty Joe Young is cast in soft vinyl, while the lions are cast in polyresin.

The Mighty Joe Young Statue is priced at $288.99 for the Normal Version, and $384.99 for the Deluxe Version. The statue is expected to ship out in the Second Quarter of 2023. Read on for additional details and the new photos.

Ray Harryhausen got his start as an apprentice to the great stop-motion animator Willis O’Brien and the first major film young Ray worked on was Mighty Joe Young (1949). A 12-foot-tall giant gorilla is brought to Hollywood to help the young girl who raised him from a baby earn enough money to save her farm.

This new Star Ace statue features Joe as he fights for his life against wild lions. The soft vinyl statue is 34 cm tall and is sculpted by the renowned artisans at Kaibutsuya, each piece is meticulously hand painted.

The Deluxe version comes with two more polyresin lions attacking Joe.
