At long last, the next installment of Avatar finally arrives April 14th!
I'm getting so excited I cannot stand it. Avatar is one of my alltime favorite shows, and quite honestly I feel that it's possibly the greatest animated series in existance. There hasn't been a whole lot of hubbub about this highly anticipated series, though. So for anyone just hearing about it, The Legend of Korra picks up 70 or so years after the end of The Last Airbender. Due to the war that lasted for a century, there is a huge anti-bender movement. And the Avatar is not the world hero that he/she once was. The new series follows Korra, a headstrong water tribeswoman who is the next Avatar in the cycle. At 17, she has already studied and mastered Water, Earth, and Fire. And now must seek out the Last Airbender, Aang's son, to teach her airbending. In the last seventy years, with no war to hold them down, the world has grown up quite a bit, and now has an oriental victorian steampunk vibe going for it. I also have a theory. In this world, people routinely grow to be a 100+. And Avatars seem to be exceptionally long lived, unless they meet an ill demise (Like Roku). Aang was 13 when he ended the war. We've advanced only 70ish years since that time, and we're already onto the next avatar, who's already almost an adult. Aang would have been 60ish when he died. And the world has become increasingly hostile towards benders. I think Aang was murdered. I can't wait to find out!!!

My nephews watched the cartoon on tv so I took them to see the movie. We liked it mostly . We all agreed that the pronunciation of Aang got annoying. Yet we all looked forward to the next movie. I was really expecting the next movie to continue with Aang like the cartoon series.
Now , I don't know what to expect. I guess I will have to watch it for the visual aspects and let the new story surprise me. |

So the Korra story is the next animated series then?
That would be good because maybe the movie sequel can still happen some day. |

There's barily word on the show, let alone topyline. >_<
Given the poor history of Avatar toys, be the animated ones or the movie ones, I seriously doubt anyone would want to produce these. Though the original toys would have sold extremely well, if the toymakers weren't mysoginistic bastards.

Wasn't two episodes shown yesterday on Korranation.com? At least that's what was stated in one of the facebook updates I read a few days ago.

Yeah, completely forgot that two episodes were up and decided to stay up a bit longer to see. It was quite an enjoyable first two. Too bad there's gonna be a long waiting period for episode 3 now. Oh well...
Though after watching I'm curious about quite a few things now. |

I just want to see if Legend of Korra will get toys. I'd bite even if they were bad.

yeah after searching around a little more and the fact that there was nothing at sdcc, nycc or toyfair means it'll have to get immensely popular for anyone to even contemplate making toys. maybe if it goes beyond 1 season or something. a shame since from what i've seen, it looks like it'd lend itself to some really nice toys. even if they were done by bandai with no ball jointed elbows since at least they'd fit in with my other toys like the thundercats. i can just mod em to work.

I'd hit up Youtube and post some for you, but that site crashes me. >_<
But do a Youtube search for "The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra." (Apparently from the sound of it, thanks to Cameron's blue dances with wolves, they can no longer call it Avatar)

I read this on wiki The Legend of Korra - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and according to it, Katara is still alive which is awesome, wonder if Aang will pop up?

yeah katara is still alive and aang shows up in the title sequence and prolly in flashbacks if there are any and as korra's spirit guide who usually is the previous avatar.
first 2 eps were on korranation but now i think you'll have to sign up or something. prolly be able to find it in the internet underworld too. |

Very nice...too bad it's only 26 episodes, but hopefully this story continues afterwards as well which I'm sure it will.

First 2 episodes were up on korranation only during the weekend. Otherwise you'll have to find other ways of watching or wait for official air date.

Saw it and very happy of the story line! Love how they teach Air Bending now, and they have Triads, keeping the Asian Element in the story line.

It could be that he was murdered or died in battle/saving people but it doesn't seem to hint at that. I think that maybe the 100 years he spent in stasis might have taken some time from his life span. When you think about it, it really wouldn't make that being frozen for all that time costs him nothing.

i'd always assumed that being trapped in ice or one of the injuries he'd taken on was a factor in his shortened life span. or a combination. i think the way the characters and world are set up so far, i don't see aang having been murdered. i'd feel there'd be more angsty revenge coming from everyone if it was public knowledge.

Like Captain America! But seriously I hope they do tell us how Aang passed, it's cool and sad at the same time to see that only Katara was the only one left. You think Toph would have survived as well since she was younger than her.
