I haven't gotten any of the ship models yet. Looking at that Slave I, the paint job they put on that would be impossible for me to recreate. I'll have to get an X-Wing or Tie Fighter to start with.

They're pre-painted.

Wow really? That'd be great if they did that with the model Boba Fett then.

If anyone still needs a preorder, CDJapan still has some:

All of the Bandai kits for Star Wars are pre-painted, figures and vehicles. They're just unassembled, snap together kits.

I have all of the figures and none of them are prepainted except C-3PO is vac metal gold. Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, and the R2/R5 kit are all molded plastic. That's why I'm not sure what to expect at all with the Boba Fett. They have decals/stickers for details, but that's a lot of crap to put on his body. I guess we'll see, only about a month!

I'll definitely be getting that First Order trooper. I love these models, as well as the figuarts. I can't figure out why the same company loads the model OT Stormtrooper and this one with weapons and accessories and then gives the SH Figuarts ones just a single blaster. Isn't SH Figuarts supposed to be their signature line or something? Oh well, I'm rambling b/c I'm super excited for this shit!

So the other Episode 7 kits they announced aren't newsworthy? :P I'm the only one excited for the BB8 and R2 set? There's also two versions of the new Tie fighter coming (normal and special forces).

???? ?????? STAR WARS?PLASTIC MODEL

I'm so happy they're re-releasing R2 with another character that people actually want! (Instead of just a boring red R2 clone.) I wonder how functional BB8 will be; will he actually roll?

I'm also really looking forward to Boba and Slave 1. Curious to see if they actually will be pre-painted at all, since, as Dukefett mentioned, the previous Bandai kits definitely were NOT.

PS. First post outside TFW, so hi guys.

I'm interested in the BB-8, but I don't know if it will roll. The model kits have been great so far, but I don't know if they'll figure that out.

I think you and I are the only people interested in these, Duke. They could use magnets to connect the head to an interior assembly, maybe? I'm probably being overly optimistic in hoping he rolls, but I'll still pick him up. The R2 looks really good, but I didn't want the red version, so I'm happy to get BB8 instead.

I only have the Vader so far, and I really like him (aside from the cape). But I have Boba and Slave 1 pre-ordered, and could see myself picking up a lot more if they keep making them look so perfect.

Yeah, these model kits aren't for everyone, but they should be. The model Stormtrooper may be my favorite. More accessories and great posability. I love the Figuarts line so far, but their Stormtrooper was subpar IMO. And he only came with 1 gun, they're doing the same thing with the first order one too. Anyway, back to models. The Vader is also my favorite 6" scale vader. I use the Black Series Vader cape on the model and he's almost perfect to me:

Fuck, I've been reading on some other forums that Bandai is telling JP retailers to stop selling the model kits outside of Japan. The listings are removed from Hobby Search and Amiami. Fucking great. I hope it stops with these kits and doesn't go to the other SW lines.

Just saw that myself. This is shaping up to be one of the best Star Wars Lines of all time, so I sure hope they make them available to fans. I definitely want the R2/BB8 set, and I'll probably want other kits in the future. Some speculation is that Revell asked Bandai to stop, since Revell is making (absolutely terrible-looking) kits for the North American market. But with Ebay and the internet, I think they'd have a hard time preventing them from being sold completely. I read on another forum that Diamond just got a licence to distribute Bandai products in North America, so maybe they'll be available through there?

In any case, I'm glad I got my pre-orders in for Boba and Slave 1! The product pages have disappeared from AmiAmi, but I hope they honour existing orders. Oh, and there's a magazine scan showing the plastic colours for the Fett kits; they are indeed unpainted and very strange. I'll have to try to paint them up, I guess...

That Vader looks great, by the way! The cloth cape is a really good idea.

Those pictures of Boba Fett can't be right. I mean his helmet isn't even the right color! In this line so far everything has been molded the right color with added sticker/decal details. No we have to paint the entire thing?

Yeah it looks really strange to me too. Also why mold Slave 1's fuselage in green instead of grey? Just bizarre. Maybe it's just a prototype, and the final colours will be better? Here's hoping! But I don't want to cancel my pre-orders when they might never be available again. I'll paint them if I have to.

Haha me too. Although you're right, all the Bandai kits so far, especially the figures, have been molded in the correct colours. The colours and part separation on R2 was incredibly detailed and accurate, and they even had different finishes of flat and gloss black on Vader! So I'm hoping that the final colours on Boba look better. The bright green chest armour in particular makes no sense.

Guess we'll find out soon!

For whatever reason HLJ is being allowed to sell off the rest of their stock, I don't see any other sites carrying the models anymore. I guess it is just the models and the panic was a little bit much I guess.

Bandai posted more pictures of the Episode 7 X-Wing on their webpage. It looks really good; definitely gonna try to pick these up ...somewhere. I really like the new looks for the Stormtrooper and X-Wing; slightly more modern, sleek updates of the classic designs.

Love these kits here are pics of the ones I've done. Started out just using the stickers then I learned how to use the decals which are way better than the stickers. And painting them

Wow! Awesome collection, and nice work on the painting and polishing. 3PO in particular looks fantastic.

And welcome, haha! Just joined myself to comment on these kits, because they're just that awesome. Can't wait for Boba and the Force Awakens sets.
