The Battle Beasts Countdown Begins!

I'm beyond excited! Finally this year we may actually get to buy new Battle Beasts product! I wonder if there have been any changes or tweaks to what we have already seen in the past. I LOVE the original Battle Beasts, the Minimates versions look decent, but doesn't quite have the same feel for me as the originals. But that definitely wont deter me from buying them!

I know absolutely nothing about Minimates but this has me intrigued. How to they compare in size to Battle Beasts? Accessories? And how are they sold, price point, number per package? Available at brick & mortar?

Problem is we don't know much right now. Going off of the promotional Battle Beast that was handed out, the size of the Minimate is a little bit taller than a vintage Battle Beast. It came with one weapon much like the vintage ones did as well.

But we have been given zero information about the retail plans for Battle Beasts unfortunately. Everything seemed on hold, or up in the air all throughout last year.

If they go by their current Minimate sales structure I would assume that we could find these guys at TRU's with a few exclusive to specialty stores like comic book stores. Vintage Beasts were sold predominantly in two-packs much like most Minimates are today, but there were a few multipacks (also like Minimates are today).

The x-factor was at SDCC they had some static statues on display that were obviously not Minimates, and not even close to the same scale, so I am not quite sure where they are at with their product right now, or what direction they plan on going. But don't worry, I am a huge Battle Beasts fan so I will be paying close attention to this and will be providing more information as I hear it.

I can provide images sometime when I am at home, comparing the newer promotional Battle Beasts Minimate to some of the vintage ones as well.

I was just thinking the other day about what ever happen to these.

I was kind of into the designs for those second crazy looking figures that they showed at SDCC. It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

I can't wait to see what DST can come up with.

It will be nice having some Battle Beasts on the shelves with my TFs again. I inadvertently lost all my old Beasts a long time ago.

Very cool, thanks for all the good info. I need a mess of these for my Unicron. The big dude needs his immune system now that I have a Cosmos and Flint!

One question, are these supposed to be minimates or regular statues/figures?
I ask because the minimate one looks really cool to me, gives the feeling of the old ones; but I saw a picture where they appear more statue/figure like and I don't know about those...

They're supposed to be Minimates. The statues were at SDCC and I think they were only meant for promotion. But since there's been no word from DST about it, they could be a sample of future product in addition to the Minimates.

I'm not a terribly huge fan of Minimates myself. But if these turn out cool, I may just bite and pick them up. I'm a big fan of Art Asylum, though they don't make much that I collect. So I'd love to support them and DST via Battle Beasts. But it really depends on the final look.

I would love to see these guys come back but NOT as Minimates. Making them look Lego-ish would totally detract from my urge to get them.

I did a search and found some pics from 2010 comicon

http://battlebeasts.blogspot.com/201...ts-action.html

Don't know if this is what we are getting.

I'm stoked to see some information... those pics looks pretty cool, and if they look like that I may get some... if they're minimate style, i may not get them... it all depends on what they do with them... and if they lose the Fire, Water & Wood concept, i'll be a little bummed, but hopefully they'll create a new story that works...

Lol, that's awesome. We've gone international. Sort of.
