My latest custom is the Scarecrow from Batman's Rogues Gallery. I like the old Mattel DC Superheroes version of Scarecrow, but I think he's too skinny to fit in with most of my other figures and he goes for more than I want to spend on the secondary market. I've always thought that the DC Direct Hush Scarecrow was okay, but I never liked the design of his mask or the straw hair. The DCUC version wouldn't work with my collection because he's in the Sinestro Corps. uniform. So I bought a loose DCUC Sinestro Corps. Scarecrow for $4 and the old DC Direct Hush Scarecrow figure that was reissued in the Hush 3-Pack with Poison Ivy and Nightwing and I cobbled those together.

I popped the head off of the Hush Scarecrow and replaced it with the DCUC head. Unfortunately the Hush Scarecrow only has a swivel neck joint and I had to sculpt the neck onto the DCUC figure's head. I didn't really need to paint anything but the newly sculpted neck, but I thought it would be fun to do some drybrushing and paint washes. I was originally going to paint his shirt red like it was in the Animated Series but a lot of my Rogues already have red in their costumes, so I just did shades of brown instead to mix it up a little bit. I found a piece of string and wound it around his neck to save myself from having to sculpt it. He retains all of his original articulation. It's a little limited, but it's better than you would expect from a DC Direct figure. Anyway, I'm happy to finally fill this gap in my collection and he's pretty fun to play with and photograph.
