I read another story where they confirm that the movie is absolutely going to happen and even give some hints as to other characters that could appear. They also mention that the goal for the Deadpool solo flick would be to have the character much closer to his comic book counterpart.
Ryan Reynolds: ‘Deadpool’ Movie Just Like The Comics - Screen Rant Snowflakian, where you at? You need to be working on this. Get your agent in contact with their people so we can all get what we want! And throw in some obsure characters so we can get some cool toys out of it! |

IGN: Not to belabor the point, but Deadpool is really the character where, if you're casting Deadpool, you're a smart choice for that. It works with much of what you've done already – the comedy, the drama. REYNOLDS: Yeah, all those things. And I have ideas for it that I think are right in tune with the tone of that character. I'm dying to see them on film. Literally, dying. So many of the outlets that follow this character are curious what the elements will be, afraid that you won't be disfigured, that you won't wear the mask, and I laugh because there's no way to do this without having the scarring, having the mask, having it all. And it can be done. It's a no-brainer in that sense. You gotta have the character of Deadpool. You don't want to just invent something new and call it Deadpool.

Maybe Daken too, or X-29 and Warpath as well from Wade's current future romp. Oh yeah, and the GLA/GLX with at the very least squirrel girl, and Grasshopper. >.> Oh and the irredeemable antman. Why? Because he has nothing to do with the movie. The card stock should say that. Wade 4th wall breaking style. |

Don't forget Ajax. The story with Ajax is second only to the finale of the Mithras story.
I also just want to say that Ryan Reynolds has always been one of my favorite actors and I think he is perfect for Deadpool. If they keep this thing going right, as long as he LOOKS the same and acts like he did as Wade Wilson in Wolverine, I'll be happy. For storylines, I think that the Circle Chase would be a great starter. If they did a second movie it could have T-Ray or Ajax, building up to the third movie which should be about the Mithras Directive. The Kelly run of Deadpool is one of the best in comics... Anyone who ever gets a chance to read the Mithras storyline SHOULD. It pushes the limits of a character like Deadpool. Last edited by scarecrow; 06-03-2009 at 03:41 PM.. |

Well the first one will probably be an origin movie of some fashion, so it should cover his involvement in team X, why he left, came back cause of cancer, etc. Followed by of course his stay in the 'wash out' deadpool cells. His resilence to dying keeping him around far longer than they anticipated. Then his escape and stryker wanting him for weapon XI. This would open the door for his costume to hide his scarred self. Keeps it comic and movie accurate too for now. And have the first movie end with him being caught and mouth being sewn shut. That's one direction at least. Clip after the credits of him escaping with only half his head shaved. >.>
The other direction they could go is post wolvie, write out his powers by various means, and have him undo his own mouth and swear to never be silent again. Which of course includes a brand spanking new costume to hide his face from others, 4th wall breaking dialogue from going insane, and well, he's insane. I'm kinda hoping for a mix of the 2, but I can still see another 10 or so odd variations they could still do to be accurate to both. More just keep popping in my head as I write this. xD Reynolds is an awesome choice as well, it'll be nice to finall have a superhero 4th wall breaking movie, with an actor in the vein of christian slater in kuffs, or even the guy who played ferris bueler. Should they work Bob in at the end of the first one or wait till the second movie? What about Al too? Last edited by Snowflakian; 06-03-2009 at 09:05 PM.. |

On the fourth wall, I don't feel like he needs to reference the fact that he breaks it more than once or twice. That's mainly just fan service, I never felt like if you took away the fact that he breaks it would take away from who he is.
I could see him looking at the screen once or twice, or narrate the film. People go way to gaga over it when even his pop-culture references aren't a part of his breaking the fourth wall. Just sticking in my two cents on that. |

Just sticking in my two cents on that. It can go either way. But imho we haven't had a decent fourth wall breaking film since 90s. We need a superhero one already besides sitcoms like drawn together. Kuffs is a perfect example of this. Ferris bueler not so much. There was another movie that did an almost wade like spin on the 4th wall breaking, and it was a psychosis the guy had. But I forget what the name of that movie was. It was something like 'star of my own movie' or something. Wade's insanity (first movie might need to be downplayed) is the perfect vehicle for it too. Since it is catergorized as a mental illness itself. So essentially, the 4th wall breaking is part of his character. Just how we percieve it, is well 4th wall breaking comic sense. When the heroes in this world percieve it as the psychiatrist does the patient in the one psychosis 4th wall breaking film. It's something that needs to happen maybe 1-4 times in the first film, and gradually gets heavier as his insanity does. Make it like he's so insane, when there's no one to talk to, he'll talk to a nonexistant audience thinking this "shit's too surreal to be real, I have to be in a movie, or show like heroes, no wait I'm wearing a costume! I'm in a comic book! Cause everyone knows hollywood uses leather for movie super heroes." And yeah it just builds from there over time to where he talks nonstop to who he's fighting and this invisible audience as part of his mental instability. If it was me, by movie 4, I'd add in dead pool vision too. And have hugh jackman cameo. Deadpool vision = wolvie fighting in costume. Normal vision is the typical fox way. I read this story yesterday. I really hope he has as much input as he is leading on. These properties can really succeed in the movie medium when the proper creative people have due respect for the characters. Reynolds is the perfect choice to play Deadpool. Let's hope the solo movie lives up to what everyone wants it to be. I'm excited that he'll be appearing in the proper costume.

Last month, IGN.com ran an interview they had with Reynolds where he gives even more info on the subject of the Deadpool movie, including the following quote:
“We’re just trying to get it right. There’s so many variables to play. It’s tough because when you have a character like Deadpool, to the greatest extent of your power, you want to bring as much authenticity to that character as possible. And by “authenticity,” I don’t mean that you’d want to make him somebody that you’d have a Starbucks coffee with, I mean that you want to make him as close to the comics as possible. And there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do to make sure that ends up on film, but sometimes things are out of your control, things that you can’t change. But I’m really happy, in these early talks, that the studio is as obsessed with making it as close to the comic book source material as possible. And that’s all I really needed to hear. Cuz I will husk-f*@k a herd of cattle to bring Wade Wilson to life as the real deal.” This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. He also mentions that the Deadpool movie might not even tie-in to the XMO:Wolverine flick at all. Link below. IGN: EXCLUSIVE: Reynolds Talks Deadpool |

I remember reading that interview a couple weeks ago. Looks really good so far. Like everyone said, let's hope that he's able to keep his word.

I think it'd be a waste of a decent universe they've created if they made this a side Universe. But then again, it could be the springing off point for Fox if they ever want to do what marvel is currently doing with Ironman and such. Personally, I want an incanon, yet comic accurate still Deadpool. It can be done, quite easily. |

Yeah, I really can't imagine them not having this tie in to the films they've made so far. It can be a stand alone film, with characters that have not been in any other movies and still take place in the same world as the other X films. Maybe that's what he meant, that no other previously featured character would show up.

screenrant.com has posted some very interesting info concerning the upcoming Deadpool film. Specifically, that Deadpool will indeed break the "fourth wall" and speak directly to the audience.
Actor Ryan Reynolds has been quoted as saying, “Break the fourth wall? Oh yeah, he’s got to. I want to see him break the Great Wall.” This is pretty cool news as many, including myself, have speculated if this would occur or not in the film. I remain optimistic until the movie goes into production and we get script leaks. Besides, I think Ryan has enough star power (and friends) that he could give it a real shot.
