I didn't have either sets as a kid, though I really liked the COPS show. Just based on the pictures alone, Dino-Riders looks like a lot more fun to play with.

Damn, this is a tough call. I LOVED COPS! The toys were excellent. Really cool characters and awesome vehicles. And the cap feature is always welcome in my book. Ah, the memories. But Dino-Riders were really cool too! Great concept with a great execution. And what boy growing up in the 80's didn't love the hell outta some dinosaurs???
I think I have to go with Dino-Riders. |

Dinosaurs should win, every time. Dinosaurs with lasers is just... nothing can beat that!
Also, unlike COPS, Dinoriders has had a significant and lasting effect on pop culture. Until the Jurassic Park line, the dinosaur toys were the most scientifically accurate dinosaur toys ever made. So much so the Smithsonian comissioned just the dinosaurs on their own. The dinosaur in Toystory was based on the Dinorider T. Rex. Bix, the protoceratops in James Gurney's Dinotopia was modeled after the dinorider protoceratops toy. Those are just off the top of my head. Pretty sure there's a lot more if one digs around.

No contest, Dino-Riders. Crazy Jetty is correct, I'm sure the mass appeal of these, I mean as a kid who doesn't love dinosaurs? You mix in missile launchers and mini figs and you're rolling in dough, I think someone posted somewhere about imaginext coming up with something similar. Money Maker is what that idea is!

I still have the cops Police car that came with the figure. That was a pretty badass car and figure.
From dino Riders all I had was the pterodactyl, but I remember buying up all the dinosaurs at flea markets for cheap and making paper armor for them that could hold Mask figures to go with it. xD This is a tough choice. I have fond memories of both. I think I'm going to have to go with Cops though because of the durability of the toys, though Dino Riders were awesome with their action feature and poseable dinosaurs. (The Pterodactyl had a rotating head, opening mouth, and hinged head to look in all directions. Plus he had a button on his back to make his wings do a flying motion. The button was perfect placement too and blended into the mold. It was right in the spot you'd naturally hold it while playing so all you had to do was squeeze while you were flying it in the air.) So all that makes it an incredibly tough choice. The only reason I'm going with COPS is because this whole poll reminded me I have that car in a box somewhere and might now get it out for my shield display but those dino toys were indeed epic beyond epic even by today's standards. I was a dinosaur-crazed youth in the 80's... and had ALL the Dino-Riders. Also had ALL the first two waves of GI Joe (including Terrordome and USS Flag)... after Dino-Riders was booted from the airwaves, I combined their forces with those of GI Joe (Rulans with Cobra, Joes with the Dino-Riders). Many many months of fun with those toys. Toss in the occasional Transformers air strike, and it was insane! Wasn't until I got into TMNT that Dinoriders were boxed up and some sold... years later, with Jurassic Park fever, I used the Dinoriders line to pad my JP dinosaurs collection.
