I said it on TFW and I'll say it here:
Great, I can see it now. We're going to have "Iron Mouse", "Quacktain America" and "A Goofy Wolvie" to look forward to.

This could indeed bode well for disney, I wonder what the future projects may reflect this.
Kingdom Hearts Marvel world or more could be interesting too. I'd love to see X-23 in KH. xD Look out Kari, here comes Sora's true heart throb. And how cool would it be to have donald vs howard the duck. But short of a few things like that, I hope not much is altered. In the long run though, if Hasbro, Marvel, and disney can work together this could lead to some awesomeness like Rom in Kim Possible, etc. We already have animal marvel, so that's no biggie, and no different than the classic Batman daffy, super bugs, wonder piglet, and tasmanian devil flash. SpiderHam and Gizmo Duck FTW! Darkwing Duck teamed with captain ameriduck. and more! Last edited by Snowflakian; 08-31-2009 at 04:45 PM.. |

I don't see Disney interfering with the line at all. This could just be a business decision to buy out another company. We could get new attractions at the parks, which would be great, and mean tons of more merchandise to sell, but as far as movies go, they'll probably just let them do their own thing.

I have to say that the Toyark responses to this have been much more rational than over at Hisstank. People are predicting the end of comic books over there. I think that this will be mostly good for Marvel. It will probably just mean a lot more merchandising.

Hey if this means we finally get a decent Gizmo Duck action figure, I'm all for the merchandising. xD

I'm not that worried. Even if Hasbro loses the rights to Mattel in 2017, we've still got another 7 years of Hasbro stuff to look forward to (MU has just started!).
Although, if Mattel DOES get it, then it will be the first time in a long time that one toy company held the rights to both Marvel and DC at the same time. Can you say Amalgam? Hey, I think Pete would make a really good Sabretooth. These ideas could even have their own thread...

This is coming from the same community who's wonderful members made the ludicrous claim that ROC's Paris Pursuit scene was "the worst scene in movie history". Yeesh. I agree. Merchandising will skyrocket, and I can't complain about getting more toys. |

If this is the case with Hasbro's 2012 contract then that means that they need to start pumping out some fan favorite characters in the Marvel Universe line before it's over.
We still have 3 1/2 years of figures but....do you think they will have enough of the odd-ball characters? I only hope so -_-.....

Let's just hope Hasbro doesn't give up on the Marvel toy line prematurely and start cutting corners on this great line. |

Okay, Hasbro, you have till 2017 to get every major team out in force. Box set it if you have to. But pump them out for massive revenue and figure coverage before it's too late!
Mattel with marvel? Blah though I will be all for amalgam figures, maybe Disney can broker a deal for them? DCIH maynot do them justice. At least we have a good 7-8 years before this, but still. Disney would do well to have hasbro experiment with some lines in good faith, like gizmo duck, darkwing duck, and stitch. If they part from hasbro for mattel, Disney loses the potential of one awesome character from this cooperation. The rebirth of the original space knight, ROM. Disney I hope may be kinder to hasbro in good faith because of their dreamworks deals as well. But who knows how this will play out. So far it just seems Hasbro's network is nixed from marvel toons, but that was mildly expected anyway in this early stage of it. But on the flipside, disney could help hasbro out with such things they don't air anymore like tailspin, rescue rangers, darkwing duck and ducktales. MUD stitch? MUD Kim Possible? MUD Gizmo Duck? MUD Darkwing duck? I'd buy em. Hasbro and Disney could reach some kind of agreement I'm sure to bring these back to every kids eye. If not, well Hasbro, we better get at least a Howard the duck so we know what to send disney to not mess with what's perfect. xD But the also potential future of this... 3 words. Marvel Divas Barbies. Last edited by Snowflakian; 08-31-2009 at 11:23 PM.. |

Regarding the update, this is exactly what crossed my mind after I made my post. "What the heck happens to Hasbro and Marvel?" I really don't see Hasbro ever touching Marvel again after their deal is up.

What the fuck?! Hasbro better keep this licensee!!! The only thing that would make this deal good is if Disney buys Darien Lake(what used to be 6 flags) and turns them into Marvel based theme parks like how they used to be DC based theme parks. Or we get a butt load of GOOD Marvel cartoons.

disney just had some success when they bought out seban for the old marvel shows, this success increased when they showed episodes of x-men evolution, and spectular spiderman. Disney figured out that people like marvel and want to cash in on it. Here is to hoping they make a whole marvel channel, one that plays old episodes of spiderman, the fantastic four, and the original increadible Hulk.

Only if he's singing "zippidy do dah, zippidy day!" and then goes to 100 Acre Woods and dresses up a certain someone in his costume and calls him "Deadpooh".

Speaking of DP, wonder how long till he offs someone named mickey, and adopts a dog named pluto... With obligatory deadpool vision hallucination.
Does this mean the secret invasion scene with him could take place at disney world? |

Marvel needed the money. This Avengers concept they have of doing separate films Spider-man, Iron Man, Thor and such and then making an Avengers film with the same actors is all a bit too much. The Hulk has bombed twice, Punisher has bombed twice and Fantastic Four has bombed twice. So I think Disney will leave Marvel alone, but I also think they will put more control over what gets green lighted and I think Thor might be cut. Maybe they salvage The Avengers but all of the other movies leading up to that might get cut.
Universal Studios had to have a license for the Marvel attractions they have at Islands Of Adventure, so whenever that runs out there might be a change of some kind. Disney just wants to make more money and they hope Marvel can deliver. |

I wouldn't say the Hulk bombed twice. Fantastic Four either. All of their movies did respectable numbers, but by no means were considered blockbusters. I would say they under-performed from what was expected. I'll give you Punisher, though.

Here are the Top 500 Films. I sorted it out as DC vs. Marvel
Marvel has more films out there and rule the Top 100, 6 to 4 over DC. Marvel has Spider-man, Iron Man and X-Men as the ones they depend upon to make the money. DC depends almost soley on Batman. Neither of The Punisher films made the list, they did not even beat Batman and Robin. 2 The Dark Knight (Warner Bros.) 7/18/2008 $533,345,358 8 Spider-Man (Sony) 5/3/2002 $403,706,375 12 Spider-Man 2 (Sony) 6/30/2004 $373,524,485 17 Spider-Man 3 (Sony) 5/4/2007 $336,530,303 22 Iron Man (Paramount) 5/2/2008 $318,412,101 50 Batman (Warner Bros.) 6/23/1989 $252,101,924 62 X-Men: The Last Stand (Fox) 5/26/2006 $234,362,462 81 X2: X-Men United (Fox) 5/2/2003 $214,949,694 89 Batman Begins (Warner Bros.) 6/15/2005 $205,343,774 94 Superman Returns (Warner Bros.) 6/28/2006 $200,081,192 112 Batman Forever (Warner Bros.) 6/16/1995 $184,134,591 125 X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Fox) 5/1/2009 $179,863,544 157 Batman Returns (Warner Bros.) 6/19/1992 $162,831,698 166 X-Men (Fox) 7/14/2000 $157,299,718 173 Fantastic Four (Fox) 7/8/2005 $154,696,080 235 The Incredible Hulk (Universal) 6/13/2008 $134,806,913 238 Superman (Warner Bros.) 12/15/1978 $134,218,018 245 Hulk (Universal) 6/20/2003 $132,175,874 249 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (Fox) 6/15/2007 $131,921,738 326 Ghost Rider (Sony) 2/16/2007 $115,802,596 366 Superman II (Warner Bros.) 6/19/1981 $108,185,706 369 Watchmen (Warner Bros.) 3/6/2009 $107,509,799 370 Batman & Robin (Warner Bros.) 6/20/1997 $107,325,195 398 Daredevil (Fox) 2/14/2003 $102,543,518 Domestic Gross NOT total Worldwide Last edited by FlaBat; 09-02-2009 at 10:52 AM.. |

Wow. I had no idea the first Punisher didn't do that well. I thought that movie was awesome. I loved Thomas Jane as Punisher and thought the action was great. Oh, well...
