So I was checking out some of the early reviews for the NECA Predators Ghost and Stalker and they appear to be smaller than the Scar, Chopper, Celtic,Temple guard, etc. One of the things that I really liked about the new lines was the size and bulk of the figures. I also noticed mentions of part reuse from older line which I know is common. The question I have is why go back to the old sizes after the 14 and 15 series? The figures were really well received, aside from saving money by using old molds I am not sure that I understand the thinking behind the new series 16 sizes. I really enjoyed the figures recently and was simply wondering what everybody thoughts were on it.

They're different sizes because the predators in the AVP movie were just bigger so the figures correlate. The Jungle and City Hunters shouldn't be as big as the AVP bodies and they're staying the same size to maintain scale with NECA's other figures. If articulation is your main concern then don't worry we've already seen they're applying the new ultimate figure articulation to the new JH/CH based figures.

The articulation will be applied to series 16 too correct?

Yes, you can see in Joe's gallery for series 16 that they have the upgraded articulation.

I just got in on the newest waves so I am not extremely familiar with the old articulation. I have high hopes for the new figures. The bulkier ones are by far my favorite though. Looks like they stuck with that style for Scarface and all of wave 17. Joe stated that the future would probably hold a mix of the styles.

Any predator that appeared in the first AVP will of course have the bigger body but there are many video game and comic predators that clearly have the same general armor designs and so they too would use the bigger body (Serpent hunter in wave 17 for example). The Kenner Clan Leader uses the bigger body because the original toy was notably bigger than the others and I guess maybe Lasershot could use it too but I don't remember if he was actually bigger or if it was just his gear was bigger to accommodate the light-up gimmick.

I'm really hoping they do more characters from the 2010 AVP game because it would be a great way to get more mileage out of the bigger body and give us some more unique looks.

I couldn't agree more.
