You have no idea what my morals and perspectives are . I am flattered that you would assume I have morals . I tried to clearly show how this could create an isolated loss for the store based on what I guessed they pay Hasbro per figure. The only counterpoint that needs to be directed to my previous post would be; 1. Whether or not it is worth the hassle for you because of waiting in line at the stores. 2. Whether or not it is stealing based on my guess that they pay $3.00 per figure when they buy from Hasbro. **Until we know how much they pay, this discussion will likely go on and on about how evil Walmart is , how they have unfair business practices , and they won't even notice because they factor in losses everyday. |

You brought up "morals" twice. Are you sure you're not having a moral issue with this?

You: "Here is 6 bucks Fedup"
Me: "Thanks!" You: "Hold on..there is a catch..you have to goto WalmartA and buy a figure..then drive 5 miles to WalmartB..get in the return line and return the figure..then go home. Two days later I need you to return to WalmartB and head to the toy isle and see if the figure has been returned to stock. Hopefully somebody didnt buy it before you get back there! Now goto the register to pay for it..it MAY have been marked at the discounted price!!! IT's that easy!! ME: Here's your 6 bucks back. |

Wow. Either times have changed or there are huge differences in the attitudes and demeanors of different types of collector's.
If Peteparker posted this story over at HISSTank, all the idiot members would yell and scream about how you were a thief and a POS. The thread would drag, and be argued and debated for days. It really all boils down to jealousy in how you were able to walk out with a deal the haters didn't. Anyway. Good job of loopholing to get the best deal, man! Closest thing I've done to that is buy a clearanced item at Target and then returned it to Wal-Mart for store credit. Turning an $0.80 "Rise of Cobra" figure into $7.99 store credit is great. I still have a dozen figs I (or a friend) could return as well. I also returned a lot of "Supercharge your Giftcard" freebies to Wal-Mart too. Are you serious to think that anyone is jealous over some reject figures bought at discount after waiting in line 3 times between 2 stores? I thought the attitudes of most collectors would be that finding the cream of the crop at a decent price is the goal. I am not building a collection of dollar store toys. Savings should not be the goal because if you really need to save, then STOP collecting . |

How do we know if it is loopholing until we know how much the store pays for their inventory?

I know it was Target, I want to know what state.
I did not say people need to stop collecting because they want to save. I said "Savings should not be the goal because if you really need to save, then STOP collecting ". When you look at your collection, cant you see that the GOAL was to have the stuff and not to save money? |

Honestly, I'd rather they end up in your collection than clogging pegs in a retail store that doesn't care enough to even notice that you did anything out of the ordinary. At least he is using the actual product and not scamming other collectors and/or kids with empty boxes. That shit is the worst, trust me.

Well first off. For me there is never a wal-mart more the 5 miles apart in houston lol. Second. I have never waited in a line to return something. Maybe bc i just go in the middle of the day when every one else is stuck at work. Third I never pay for gas so this is a huge savings for me if i did it.
J/k I know he loves it. My point is..the whole process is silly and not worth the almost 6 bucks to Me. For you it may make perfect sense. Since you have never been to a walmart more than 5 miles away or ever witnessed a line to return anything. |

This must be a regional thing. Here in CA, if you don't have a receipt you can't even get store credit at either Target or TRU.

I have returned things to Cali and gotten store credit without a reciept at Target and I live in california. I think this is a sensative subject and there will never be concrete stance on it. It will go back and forth all day.

Yeah it would go back and forth. I'm personally on the "I hate Walmart" side but that's only because I worked there and they don't really treat their employees with respect. And I also noticed that this thread turned into a "What's your personal stance?" show and I'm sure this was NOT Peteparkers intention. So I'll just say this... What Peteparker did was clever. And I for one am quite happy with that tidbit of information.

Has anyone considered that from Walmart's perspective, what Peteparker did was no different than a regular customer? One who bought 7 MU toys at full price, then decided to return them after the price had changed? Since he had a receipt, he could prove that he paid full price for them at the time of purchase. Without a receipt, they probably would have only given him the current price for each, probably as store credit only.
And fosterlager makes a good point about why that particular Walmart had them on clearance at all. To me, in this battle between risk and reward, risk won. Too much hassle for me to bother attempting. Especially for pegwarmers that I probably already own. Quote:
Anyway, here is a helpful site if you run across any other mysterious acronyms. It helps me sometimes when I read online tech white papers: Abbreviations and acronyms dictionary: Find definitions for over 4,219,000 abbreviations, acronyms, and initialisms A word of caution, though: some abbreviations/acronyms have more than one defnition depending on the context in which they are used. For example, FTW could mean "For The Win" or "F*ck The World" depending on how and when it is used.

I kinda did they same thing with the Young justice stuff. When TRU had the bogo sale. I found that I didnt' like them AT ALL. Worse investment I could of made. So instead of just returning them to TRU and just getting $20 back, I returned them to Target to get a full refund on all 4 figures $40. And of course I just turned around and used the $40 on MU stuff lol.
Your chances for detection are minimal though and if caught they would likely just say "dont do that" The Walmart bit is fair game, though if you did it enough they would probably ban you from returns. Till then I say go for it. They set the price, heck, you may even been able to skip a step and just get a price adjustment. |

This is WITHOUT A DOUBT fraud. You are entering the store and attesting to the fact you purchased them there in order to make a profit. There is not a single state where signing your name to false information to make a profit is not fraud.
Your chances for detection are minimal though and if caught they would likely just say "dont do that" They probably wouldn't ban him from returns right away, as long as he plays dumb, they'd probably give him a warning THEN ban him if he continues. |
