I understand exactly what those guys are saying, but I don't think your original prices were unreasonable. And your new prices are very reasonable.

No need to explain yourself really. You told stories that are related toy collecting which is what we all do and the reason why we are here.
I didnt care for either story but who cares? Some people do, some people dont. Its an open forum up for discussions.

And I didnt think your prices were that bad at all to begin with and now 15 bucks shipped for a normal Strange is a good price along with the Falcon and Skaar for 12 for those that have no chance in finding either. You'd be hard pressed to find better prices than those.

Better prices there are not, those are right on par with best prices I've seen/paid. It's good to see that for people who can't find them all. I have left many Dr. Strange variants and other figures in the same wave on the shelf, but seen not one colored one yet as we were still getting the "case 2" last I looked.

But more importantly where the hell are you shopping that stocks EIGHT colored Dr. Strange figures, as well as EIGHT of every other figure in that wave?? I need to move there..

A. Didn't realize those "prices" were no longer considered reasonable. Haven't exactly seen prices on ebay since, you know, I now have everything. Not really a priority, so I'll be changing them.

B. Do I hate scalpers? Sure, but my issue is that they buy everything there, leaving nothing for others.

I left at least 6 of everything there.

C. Someone said economy is bad? It is. I literally just moved to a house that I'm paying for, as well as my college and living expenses for me and my girlfriend. I apologize if trying to find a way to support a hobby for me and my girlfriend seems hypocritical, but $30 on avg per figure because nothing, save this ONE influx, gets here.

If you've ever seen one of my rants, I don;t get anything. MY toy runs include over 8 cities/towns, last my entire day off, and I have never seen at retail any Dark Hawkeye wave, no Sentinel or Galactus, NO new GI Joes and most other collectibles. If trying to recoup some of that cost so that I can stay in this game is considered unacceptably hypocritical, then I apologize for angering you. And to play advocate, I have no idea if said scalper was in the same boat, but at the very least, I was TRYING for fair prices.

Here-

Colored Dr Strange- $15 shipped, Skaar and Falcon $12 shipped. To whoever PMs first. Are those fair prices?

Fair deal?
Not trying to stir the pot I just do not understand the last part of parahraph C. I'm glad your Traget seems to be putting out MU. The one by me has a lot of space for them but most are Iron Mans and older waves. I ony see one case put out at a time. So to me it seems like you bought them out. That's all.
I do think buying extras to try and re sell to supplament the money you spend on a hobby can be considered scalping but that is a whole ball of wax that has already be discussed. I consider scaper a dirty word we shoud use entrepreneur.
As long as everybody gets what they want and are happy with what they spent.

P.S.
I also appreciate the huge distraction this thread has been from me getting any work done on this pay day Fri. Just sat threw sexual harassment training and I'd rather talk about toys with you guys any day. It's nice to have intellegent conversations that do not turn into pissing contests and name calling.

anyway. to lighten the mood. I do hate that scalper you mentioned.
I read a similar story in Hisstank where a guy had a skystriker thanks to asking for it from a target employee, and the scalper actually took the skystriker from the guys cart! right infront of him! Thankfully the employee was super employee of the month and the scalper got shot down, but man oh man. Its toys, not winning lottery tickets.

When I picked up that skystriker, I actually had all 3 in my hands, and I kind of stood there and thought "Wait a sec....this isnt right" and put 2 back.
I agree in buying in bulk for your own collection, such as army building

My point was merely that, with gas, occasional spending and what not, collecting is almost too expensive, and since I rarely find anything, I always have to turn to eBay. I was merely trying to explain why I was trying to get something back for the figures I've purchased.

Ames, IA.

Just went back there this morning on the off chance they had some Joes (same stupid Arctic Destro...), and the power went out, ugh, but they had 3 colored Dr Stranges left, and 1 Astral Strange.

FYI, that scan of the "coupon" posted is a fake. It was posted on the toyboard of 4chan like, 2-3 years ago, but some dickbag keeps changing the date and passing it off as a legitimate coupon. It originally came on the side of a fast food kids meal advertising the 2nd transformers movie, I believe.

My Mostly True, Almost Spot-On, Barely Changed, Real Life Toy Hunting Story

Staring at the floor, as I typically do when I'm impatient, was the only thing I could do. I was hoping the seconds would feel less like the hours they always did while I waited. I shuffled my feet and wondered about the new strings I'd put on my shoes a few days ago. There's no way they'd stay this clean through the summer.

The snapping sounds of footsteps against the hard floors had me as alert as a lioness protecting her cubs at the sound of a rustle in a nearby brush. I'd sent the random worker into the depths of the stockroom in search of treasure. Every nearby sound had me biting my lip in anticipation of his return, but this was it, I was actually in the moment. This was no ordinary moment either, this particular event was shaping up to be the journey-ender, the icing on the cake, the whole shebang! The young gentleman, no older than 18, no bigger than 120 pounds, was cautiously walking so as not to drop the three sealed packages in tow. His cargo was nearly as big as his own wiry frame. As he shuffled over to where I was standing, I anxiously took small steps toward him as well. I'm not sure if my advances towards him were those of care for his personal well being, or that of the packages he held. It mattered none at this special moment, as I was mere seconds away from taking home the golden goose. His small body slumped over as he released the boxes at my feet. His panting and short breaths made his next sentence difficult to make out, but I deciphered something about a box cutter. I smiled and smugly chuckled to myself as I quickly and smoothly cut the tape that bound the box together using nothing but my fingernail and precise finger sliding. The kid blinked a few time in rapid succession and swallowed before whispering, "you've done this before.."

I placed my hands on the box flaps, poised to pull them open as if they were the gates to the kingdom of heaven. I closed my eyes as the new smell of cardboard and plastic filled my nostrils and slowly pulled back the cardboard prison that held my treasure.

Before I could even open this container of dreams, my eyes opened ever so slightly and caught movement of the horrific creature. It was here. The cunning and slither-like maneuvers it made almost had me fooled that my eyes were playing tricks on me, but I knew better. My right hand slowly made its way to my belt buckle as the left placed its index finger over my mouth as a clear gesture to the wiry stockroom hero to not move and not say a word. Unfortunately, it wasn't as clear as I'd believed.

"Today is the street date for all three of those sets.." he squeakily whispered to me.

I bit my lower lip and my eyes closed. I knew it was too late. Before my eyes could even reopen the box beneath my hands had vanished and my left hand was bracing my fall. My eyes blinked quickly as I tried to focus on where the creature had gone. My right hand had already removed the buckle from my belt, but it would take a few more second before it'd be ready to use.

I rapidly scanned the nearby aisles for the residual trail of the creature. My buckle had almost fully formed into my crossblade when I felt the cold on my pant leg. My eyes flickered down then back up to see what was going on, but not to break concentration on the movement amongst the aisles. Blood, my pant leg was becoming increasingly soaked in human blood. For a split second I had to question if I'd been hit, but I knew of nothing that could move quickly enough to snag my loot from beneath me as well as connect with an attack. That's when I figured it out and suddenly wished I actually had been hit instead. Oh, stockroom hero, how could they?

I channeled the mixture of pity and rage into my sidearm heave of my crossblade. The sound of metal being ripped in two as it tore through the aisles of ipod accessories on my left was just enough to make the creature move. "Got ya." I said aloud to myself.

I sprung to my feet and sprinted towards the DVD new release section as the shadowy creature crawled along the back aisle. My crossblade had just returned to my hand as I passed the $5 movies. I couldn't help but notice that some of the selections were currently on sale for $3.99 and used my free hand to grab Crocodile Dundee. I leaped on top of the glass counter and peered over the top of the adjacent aisles. There it was, treasure in tow, sprinting towards the main aisle, where he'd be home free to checkout. I had one shot at this throw, but it'd be banking on the fact that Target had setup the seasonal baby cribs on the outside of G13. This was a long shot for the ricochet toss I knew, as Target was rarely on time with stock, let alone entire remodels. I took a deep breath and lined up the toss. There was no way I was leaving without my variants and I let the creature know in a loud bellowing call, "You're mine you scalper scum!"

I figured it was too good to be true. Thanks for the heads up before I made a douche of myself at Target this weekend.

Agree with Optimus that it seemed too good to be true. Im curious to see what Miketime has to say about this since he said that he had been using these.

This is seriously the longest most over desribed journey of a toy hunt I've ever read, 95 % is pure filler and fluffery, and you didn't even fully finish your tale. According to what I can sum up, you got some teenager at target/walmart to go out back and bring out new stock of MU, you got bumped by a scalper, and ran after him like a kid on crack trying to get the variants he took first?

While this doesn't involve Marvel stuff, one time at Toys R Us, they had put the newest and last wave of Legacy collection figures out. They were TRU exclusives, and were proving to be rare then, and are rare now. I get to the store at opening, with only two people in front of me. Doors open. One of the guys goes straight to Hot Wheels. Now, my TRU doesn't have a lot of action figure collectors, but I just knew the guy in front of me was. I was right. He went to the pegs, which had been stocked with all of the new wave, at least four cases, and took ALL of them. Put them all into his cart. I politely asked if he could spare a set, and all I got was, "How much you willing to pay for them?" I'm pissed at this point, and walk away. Then I watch as he leaves his cart unattended. I rush over, grab the three I want, and walk away. It wasn't right, but he was worse. Best part was he checked out and didn't realize he was missing any of them.

Now, I do think collectos call "Scalper!" a little too often, but they exist, and they're dicks.

Scalpers and collectors are both close in relation and description but far away in over all character and morale of the individual. The collector who goes in and buys every toy so that they can army build or trade in some ways is just as bad as the scalper who takes all the toys and resells for double/tripple/quadruple the initial investment, The difference is the scalper buys these figures with the intention of making a profit, no concern for other collectors or kids wanting the same toys or just 1 figure. The collector feels remorse for a fellow collector/kid and will leave some toys left or give them 1 of the figures you got. I try to army build sometimes but not often, and it's normally with figures nobody wants like the hand ninjas. I rarely buy doubles though unless I know someone looking for it, and they have something I want/need.

It was completely made up and a super fictitious recap of a toy hunter super assassin and a scalper portrayed as a demon. :P

$15 for any figure is very reasonable- consider that depending on where you live things cost more to start- any MU figure at target near me is $7.99 retail- add gas and shippng and $15 is pretty close to break even.
Not exactly scalping there.

Now take Doctor Strange- I see that selling for $40 on ebay all the time. Even companies that get their figures wholesale sell him single carded for upwards of $30.

In Artist77's case he knew there was a scalper there- knew it! and beat the guy to the punch.
I'm cool with that, really.

also, holy crap am I useing those coupons! I wonder if they work with the Toys R Us sale? That'd make it TWO figures for $6!

Did you see the post where someone said they're modified ones that were released with bk years ago for the transformer's movie? if not then scroll up a bit, I can't even think to use them because it says USA only, Hasbro gives Canada the shaft on discounts and distributions, yet our $$ is worth more and our economy is not in trillion dollar debt. Doesn't make sence.

Ouch. As someone with dual US/Canadian citizenship (mother is an immigrant), I gotta say, half of me hurts, lol. The other half hurts because of stuff like this;

Regardless, I somehow doubt there are more Canadian collectors than US, but I could be wrong. An interesting sales figure, I'm sure. Sucks for you though, my sympathies.
