I'll be getting this!

Looks like a great mix of modern and classic without losing the overall feeling of the character.

Excellent price. I was expecting this to be $40-$50, minimum.

Aye. I love me some Masterverse and this is a nice anniversary piece and absolutely fulfils being the traditional He-Man in a modern collection. The face could use a little wash the body has to blend in better but aye other than that it'll go well with mine and my kid's ever-growing Masterverse collection.

Is it me or did they just take the Origins head and pop it on the Masterverse body?

There are SO many He-men out there now, so is this a special anniversary bigger edition? Or is this the start of a new line?

Maybe? lol. Bit hard to tell given differences in paint. The pecs look more swole than the regular Masterverse body though. This pic my mate did of his customised Revelation He-Man trying on the Origins head sorta gives some idea. lol

It's part of the Masterverse line that contains many sublines under one overall including Revelation, New Eternia (based on old concept art), the CGI toon has He-Man and Skeletor figures in Masterverse way higher quality than that show's own much more kiddy toyline (but still replicating that show's Shrek-like CGI style and proportions rather than adapting the designs to fit in with the regular Masterverse style. So they kinda stand out and not in a way I like lol ). So this 40th Anniversary figure is using the Masterverse buck and general aesthetic and compatibility with other Masterverse figures, but based on the traditional He-Man costume design, hair etc.

It'll go nice with the classic style Teela coming in the Masterverse line. I assume we'll be getting a classic style Skeletor too eventually.

If by 'classic style' Teela, you mean Revelation episode 1 version, that's out at a lot of places. My mate got his some weeks ago but his had an ugly QC issue on the back of it. Not something you'd be able to see even in a store.

Still, it looked nice enough from the front and took some pics before he sent it back lol

As for 'Classic' Skeletor to go with this 40th Anniversary, you can kinda already do that with the New Eternia Barbarian Skeletor and it's alternate head and chest piece (released in same wave as 'Captain Teela', as my mate calls her). It's not exact but it's close enough and looks ace lol

That Skeletor photo was from https://toyhabits.com/barbarian-skel...figure-review/ which has many others.

Interesting… this is what I thought The Origins line was going to be at first… this figure looks pretty good. If they did more of these, I could see them doing quite well. Not many are fans of the Revelations redesigns.

Agreed and preordered. I really hope this is the start of a new line, I've held off on MOTU so far in the hopes that something just like this would be 8n the works.

Looks pretty cool. Only gripes are the fact that his face could have used a little more detail to go with the wash on the rest of the figure. And they could have added some wash on the weapons/shield.

'not many'? Loads are though. And a follow up series (with new arc name because the Revelations are revealed lol) has been commissioned and being worked on (Mark Hamill confirmed he just did voice work for it) despite Netflix having to cut back on other shows. It's got a way bigger fanbase than 'anti-woke' youtubers would like their followers to believe. lol. More toys for me and my kid, aye. lol.

Wouldn't require much work. The base Cringer figure from the Revelations Battle Cat is the best he's ever had. Just add old-style armour and maybe old style angry head sculpt for more vintage accuracy though I love they finally did a more peaceful Cringer under that helmet even if the figure is far too large to be Cringer form lol. Anyways aye, the Reveleation figure has tons of articulation that made the Origins Battle Cat even more of a disappointment so is already a fine base figure for any more cats. Kind of surprised they haven't done Panthor version of it yet especially considering Panthor appeared in the Revelation show too.

In theory I like the idea of the classic looking head on a modern body, but the head just doesn't look right on this body to me. They look like they are from two different toys or lines (contrast with the MOTUC vintage style head which did not look as out of place to me). I think it is a mix of the paint/coloring and the soft featured, less detailed molding.

That's a "for new users only"-rule I think, to counter spam-bots.

If possible, maybe PM me your story and I'll post it for you? If that even works.

Hmm, the wash and unwashed head really stand out. This figure isn't the home run I thought it would be.

I have a huge MOTUC collection so I'm not in desperate need for new He-Man stuff, but I am looking forward to the New Eternia Skeletor (although the head still isn't quite right), She-Ra, Catra, and maybe the classic-looking Beast-Man.

The pinhead Revelations figures aren't my thing, but the small head syndrome seems confined to those figures.

One thing I'd love to get out of new He-Man figures is a true Filmation-style Evil-Lyn. The one released in Classics was not good.

I haven’t even looked at “you tubers”. I just know my experiences with 100+ toy collectors I know personally and have kept I touch with over the 40+ years of my life... Is that a small group sample? Possibly. But it’s what I have to go on. It’s not like Netflix posts raw viewing numbers. While I never said “nobody likes the show” I haven’t seen much of a positive response towards it either. The origins figures are doing well, but many of the Netflix figures were clearanced out and replaced by the new kid-focused HeMan cartoon figures and more Origins shelf space.

Over here, the Origins figure sections have shrunk a fair amount (in fact the Forbidden Planet I went to that used to have a whole wall of them just three months ago now just sell a couple He-Man and Skeletor origins figures that for some reason they store in the glass cabinet with the NECA and japanese figures, rather than on the easy to access shelves lol) and the 'kid-focused He-Man cartoon' which is ALSO on Netflix barely sell at all and have been pulled from most stores (and weren't even sold in that FP store to begin with) bar a couple figures (I see the Battle Cat sometimes but that's about it) while more have brought in Masterverse, particularly the recent wave with Scare Glow and Stinkor for some reason, while the earlier ones have been on clearance and some folk being using that to catch up. Even started seeing them appear in stores that don't normally sell figures at all like a video game shop and bizarrely a bicycle shop that has a small toys section lol. The fact that the show has a second season in production after Netflix had to downsize itself says enough for me and me and my best mate (and my kid) enjoy discussing it and the Masterverse figures in a facebook group that's got almost 20,000 members which seems enough for me for a cartoon aimed at a mature audience based on one from the 80s so aye it's doing fine for now and we all seem pretty hyped that a follow up season is coming. and with it, more action figures. lol

My kid has had some Origins, CGI toon and Masterverse and he prefers the latter. He couldn't get into the cgi cartoon itself (he's not a fan of CGI in general. He likes drawing a lot and finds it easier to draw fan-art of characters who have more distince outlines and two dimensions lol) and enjoyed Revelation even though his mum gave me a bit of a telling off because it's not aimed at kids and she doesn't like that he's started saying 'bollocks' because 'Evil-Lyn' said it. Actually he probably got that from me when I've said it when looking after him during the time my partner and I were separated but I blamed it on Evil-Lyn. He did start collecting origins but he said he never liked the 'goofy' proportions though I did show him they were improved somewhat over the extra stumpy vintage figures I had as a kid. At the moment he super wants the King Grayskull figure that seemingly EVERY American on the Facebook group keeps posting pics of they found that figure on Target shelves way before even any pre-orders have been fulfiled yet it's not available over here in Britain so far. Wouldn't mind one myself but I'm not buying two of that one because it's a lil more expensive lol. We each have our own Revelation He-Man and Skeletor and I had to pay for TWO lots of HordakMX custom heads because I bought one set for my own figures and my kid got all snippy and demanded them for his too. And I gave in like the chump I am. Aye, he doesn't have his own Battle Cat though due to the cost of that figure so we share that as well as the other figures. Might actually be the first action figure line where we've played it together other than a slight dabble with Transformers. So aye, I'd love to keep that going until he grows out of it all too.

As for viewing numbers. No idea. But they did say this about both Netflix shows
Masters of the Universe: Revelation:
- #1 Kids Show in the United States on Netflix
Top 5 Overall Series in 20 Countries
He-man and the Masters of the Universe:
- Top 10 Kids Show in 20+ Countries

And Masterverse did win action figure of the year at The Toy Foundation's Toy of the Year awards so that was encouraging too.

Plus not really important here but I love that Bear McCreary won best TV soundtrack from International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) for his work on Revelation too. I've been a fan of his since God of War on the PS4 a few years ago. One of the other nominations in that category was also by him (Foundation). So he beat himself and lost to himself too?

Real ace article by Bear here that goes into a lot of detail. I just linking because I found it interesting lol
