With the contest going on over the next couple weeks, I thought this would make a great complementary thread!

If you chould chose one toyline from the eighties, update and adapt it, what would it be, and why?

My choice:

Dinoriders.

I feel this is one of the more imaginative lines of the eighties. The toys still stand the test of time, with the dinosaurs being (sadly) some of the best dinosaur toys ever produced.
(I say "sadly" not that I feel these are bad, but because it's ashame aside from Jurassic Park, in nearly 25 years we haven't gotten anything better and more accurate)
Also, the action figures themselves fit the modern toy scales and sensabilities.

How I would handle the toyline:

Humanoids-
Figures would be on a 3.3/4" scale, and this would form the backbone for scale across the entire toyline.

Dinosaurs-
Figures would feature at least basic articulation, and would be in scale to the humans. Dinosaurs that are only six feet long will be no longer than a Gi I Joe figure is tall. Would also focus on making them as accurate as possible to our modern scientific understandings and theories about dinosaurs.
That's largely what they did originally, the only way to honor that is to do no less now.
Most dinosaurs would come with simple gear. Saddles, weapons,a nd light armor.

Playsets-
Given how expensive it can be to make complexe toys now, some dinosaurs would only come with simple gear, unlike the original toyline. To compensate for this, I would make large playsets that can then compact and transform into pods and armor that can be used to enhance the dinosaurs (And thus completing the picture for the original toyline.) Some could become weapon platforms for various giant dinosaurs, some would become humanoid transport, some armor. But all could stand alone as toys and playsets of their own if the child can't aquire the matching dinosaur (And vice versa).

Fiction-
Beginning in the future, the humans (As well as a few alien species) have created a peaceful Valorian Empire, dedicated to science and understanding. Beginning a new program for travelling through time, and seeking a deeper understanding of the universe, they create the S.T.E.P.: Space Time Energy Projector, that will allow observation-only missions into the past.
And then the Rulons attacked. Trying to steal the STEP, the brutal battle over it inadvertantly creates a spacetime paradox, bringing animals and primative humans of all ages to coexist in one spot in time and space.
With limited access to technology, the Valorians seek to use the dinosaurs and other prehistoric fauna to aid them with brute strength, in their efforts to restore the timeline, as well as beginning their observations. (Why waist an opportunity?)
The Rulons however using mind control technology use the dinosaurs as weapon platforms... living tanks, to irradicate the Valorians, whom they blaim for the whole problem.

I'd love to see the figures 3.3/4" scale with some vehicles to match. Concentrate more on the characters themselves with detailed masks and "mini vehicles" that could be sold with the figures. I love the old vehicles and I'd still like to see them but I think they could add to the line by making the figures bigger and selling some of them seperately.

The G.I. Joe line made a Matt Trakker figure a few years ago and I loved it. Just found out about it last year, bought it on ebay and I'm thrilled with it.

Hasbro: remake this line!
