Typically I would think the main pic on the back of the card is the normal version, unless there is information I am not aware of. I just checked Winter Soldier, Warpath, Daredevil, Vision all the main pics were the regular version

Vision is an over rated figure, it is SHIT, SHIT SHIT SHIT. I would buy one just for the head and cape and burn the body.

The pic on the back of Absorbing Man's all-metal version could simply be Hasbro trying to make the cardback more accurate. The smaller pic with the other figures still shows the skin version.

For those who bought the skin version, what is the main pic on the back of the card? Is it still the metal skin pic or is the normal skin pic?

It's still the metal version.

Too bad Hasbro never confirms these one way or the other by marking the packaging somehow. Most of the current designations are from mutual consensus, rather than official word from Hasbro. Theoretically, you could say that either one is the variant of the other for any of the MU variants so far, since release order isn't always definitive.

I am curious now to see if the whole main pic/small pic theory holds true for all MU figures that have had paint/mold variants.

But I kind of like the idea of the metal version being the regular release, since the first version of Creel was the partially metal one. Still, owning all three would give one the ability to mimic his power in toy form...well at least if he absorbed something metal anyway.

In any case, whatever Hasbro has done with the Absorbing Man packaging is probably a screw up, which they're well known to do.

Good catch with the packaging. I usually notice stuff like this but since I've been getting my figures loose nowadays... Not so much.

I'll have to check my other variants tonight and take pictures to see what the pictures look like. I'll post them when I get home.

Ive notice before that the artwork they put on the front of the packages doesn't always depic what the figure should look like. The picture on the back of the package of the actual figure is what should be referenced to decide if the figure is a variant or not.

I have a few examples but I don't have pictures of the back of the package, I'll tell you whats on the back and if you really don't believe me I guess I'll have to take pictures to prove my point lol.

to start off:

Human Torch Wave 1 #11

As you can see the artwork is of the Human Torch Flamed on, not at all what the actual figure looks like. The same artwork was used for the Human Torch Flamed on figure from Wave 1 #07. Mine that I have is the variant because if you look at the picture of the figure on the back, it is of the dark blue custome.

The Thing Wave 3 #19

As you can see the artwork that was used has the thing with no pants but the figure has pants lol. Mine is the variant cause the picture of the figure on the back has the dark blue with the black boot and black belt.

Punisher Wave 3 #20

Artwork shows white gloves, yet the figure has black gloves. Now this one is not the variant because the picture of the actual figure on the back has black gloves.

Bottom line, to me, the variant is when the figure doesn't match the picture of the figure that is on the back of the package. So for the absorbing man, the metal skin version is the Normal one and the skin color on is the variant.

i cant believe you guys are still debating this lol. i think the problem is that they released two versions at the same time and not waiting for a revision wave. At least with strange it was clear, haha get it, who was the variant.
