Mass producing is where they make money. The more retail chains that buy the line in question, the more sales Hasbro has. Their money comes from bulk orders. Smaller runs or exclusives typically are isolated to overstock or single figures because of this unless it's a bulk retail chain like Target, Walmart, or Toys R Us that can typically move high volumes of case assortments. Like the Target 2 packs previously and ironman 2 light up armory, or the Giant battle packs for walmart, or the light up base and comic pack exclusives for Toys R Us. Amazon is also an exclusive chain that can move decent volumes of merchandise depending on the demand. The IM3 assemblers created a demand that allowed the Hall of Armor pack to move high volumes. Plus the fact it was mostly repacks outside of 2 figures probably helped too. Even those two figures were really only 1 new part which was the Tony Stark head. Outside of that, they were repaints, but repaints that were in demand enough for a high volume seller like Amazon.

While many of us don't buy the lower articulation or other scales, apparently some people out there do as merchandise is still moving. It's not money issues, it's cost efficiency which in turn then lets them reinvest in the product lines later to reinvest the money to make more. Hasbro is a business.

You are mistaken, friend. The Mark 42 was a whole new figure, and Starks legs were unique to him.

Nice. Then hopefully they'll get the MK 42 out again in another way. Hope Stark makes it into a civil war line too.

Well they repainted it and released it as the 43 for AoU. I doubt we'll ever see Stark again. I managed to pick up the set before it got expensive - I had to get a second Mk 42 because the arm snapped at the shoulder

Well that's just evil. In which case only the Mark 42 was unique to the set, because the head was from the Iron Man 2

Nothing is unique ever at all. That is what we can learn from this experience.

I learned this from the modern gijoe line and the looking back it was also done in the 8o's. Repaints is the Modus operandi of Hasbro.

My fav is the SDCC Red Skull Invaders figure from the Indiana Jones Last Crusade guy. That may take the cake, like almost thirty years in between uses.

Those figures came out when Crystal Skull was in the theater. They also reused some parts for GI Joe figs in the in between time.

Imagine yourself in his position. You have 100 figures to sell but you not have no idea how much should they cost. So you start low and pump up the price and observe how quickly people buy it. This way the mass of buyers will quickly show you how precious the figure is.

I seriously doubt this dude scored the only case of visions on earth, he probably stole a few from the factory. I'm in agreement with everyone who thinks he'll be peg warming clearance racks everywhere in October, (when AOU hits DVD)
