Question: They article says these are in NECA's usual 7" range but I saw these on display at NYCC and they they looked to be at least a foot tall apiece. Is it normal for them to display bigger "test" versions at shows or am I just crazy?

You call yourself a collector and you don't know about one-ups?

Really no need for such an abrasive response. And they were actually 2-ups (2x the size of the production release).
To answer the original question by Dolemite, it's common for companies to create larger scale prototypes to work out details, likeness, articulation, etc. Then they scale that down to the size they plan on releasing them at. Here's an example from a classic Silverhawks 2-up (courtesy of Toyarchive.org). ![]()

Blanka- obviously I don't know about them or I wouldn't have wasted my time asking. Wow, my second post here...
Oh, and you call yourself a collector and you don't know about 2-ups? ![]() And thank you Joe for clearing that up for me! I had never noticed that at shows before. So, it's just like how comic book art is done at a mich larger scale that what eventually winds up at stores. Gotcha. Last edited by Dolemite; 12-02-2014 at 07:18 AM.. |

Damn, the figures come with Jonsey and not Jonesy, I really wanted a Jonesy figurine but I'll have to settle for whoever this cat is, probably edited out of the movie.

I'm holding out for "hip-hugger" Ripley.

Well, bummer. Based on the spot-on likenesses on their Arnold figures, I thought Neca would have done a better job with the likenesses on these figures. I'm going to try and hold out for an Aliens version of Ripley anyway.

The likeness could definitely be better, but I'll still probably get her. Then I can track down a Xenomorph to display next to her.
I doubt they will, and I feel a little creepy saying this, but there's another figure of her based on the first movie that I wouldn't mind seeing... if you get what I mean. Hopefully not as an exclusive.

^ No, Ravenxl7, I don't think you're going to get THAT Ripley.
![]() The likeness of Dallas is quite good. Not crazy about the pink, but I think it is screen accurate. I look forward to some product reviews. |

Hicks, Dallas, and Hudson don't look 100% like their actors either.

I'm hoping Ripley's likeness is better on the actual figure.
It's hard to pinpoint the exact flaw(s) in the figures likeness being that Weaver's beauty is so subtle and delicate. All I can think to fix what I see from the image is lowering and adjusting her hair, and giving her bigger irises.

It's entirely possible. Look at the solicits from Predator series 12, Viper didn't have a net painted on but for final release it did. There are always possibilities of change from solicit to in hand release, hell sometimes the solicit itself changes like when they fixed Godzilla '84s head.

These are their standard 7" scale, though most human figures measure closer to 6.75" than the full 7".

Actually I've never thought about it until now, but maybe Dallas is wearing pink because it's an early way to tell the audience that he isn't the main character. When this movie came out I'm pretty sure Tom Skerritt got his name posted up first which led a lot of people to think he was the lead but then it turned out to be Sigourney Weaver and she's the one wearing white. They could very well have planned it that way.
