What's up Arkers,
I know its been difficult to get tickets for SDCC these days, however, I wanted to get an assessment of how many Arkers plan to make it this year and see if there was interest in a group gathering. Me and Symbiote were thinking of doing a pub crawl in the gaslamp district and would love for some fellow Arkers to join in the fun! Let us know who's down.

The wife says she's down to go, and a good friend just moved to SD so that's even better. We can only go for one day. What day would u guys recommend? I'd like a shot at some MU exclusives. If I can get that, I'm good.
It would be cool to put screennames to faces! |

I will be in San Diego visiting the family during Con anyway. I haven't managed to get into the waiting room fast enough for badge sales. Gonna try one last time tomorrow but I will likely just get a friend to copy a badge for me and sneak in if I don't succeed tomorrow.
I'd be down for some Gaslamp shenanigans, depending on the day.

I'm late to the party and can't go afterall. I've never been before so I assumed anyone can purchase a "badge," but I guess they sold out in record time this year due to the waiting room approach.
Oh well. What can ya do. Plan ahead for next year... But on the bright side my friend just moved to SD so I can swing by a few pubs and meet some of ya!! Kinda like the outsider looking in! Lmao. Maybe one of you would be kind enough to scoop up some exclusives for this fellow Arker... so I don't feel so emotionally devastated as I do now. ![]() |

Was just able to get badge for my wife and I on Thursday/Friday so I will be there for sure. Figured I would skip Saturday as it's crowded as heck.

Very nice score iceman.
So I'm putting the date out there, Friday the 13th of July. Seems like an appropriate date moving into the weekend. Hope you can make it shockwave. It should still be fun. For those of us that are actually going inside, greenskar and I will coordinate a meetup spot. We are planning on heading downtown in the morning. |

Awesome! We've had our tickets since last year, but this is the last one we're going to for awhile...
I'm bringing along a good deal of family, so I can't wait to meet you guys! Who's hitting the Hasbro line, and when are you hitting it? It'd be cool to geek out with others over the new stuff! Last year I was the only person around me getting the sentinels, lol. |

I think it'd be tough to pull off, but all the arkers in line together would be awesome!
Though, it's pretty awesome when the dude in front or behind you isn't interested in your stuff so you can max out their limit too. |

So stoked to hang with some fellow Arkers! For those of you bringing wife or family members its all good. My gf is coming along with me and is always down to hang with new people.
Shockwave, Even if you can't make it in the con, the atmosphere in gaslamp during that weekend is almost like being in the con anyway. You might, depending on this years security approach, even be able to borrow someone's badge for a few hours and get to see the floor. My gf did it last year with no issues. But Symbiote tells me new protocols are being investigated to prevent that =/

I don't see how they would do that. They would have to check the ID of every single person from every entrance and do random badge checks on the floor. They don't have enough manpower and from past experience the volunteers don't care enough anyway. It would create crazy long lines just to get in and for nothing. If Comic-Con could sell more tickets they would. They don't want to harass the few people who sneak in or buy memberships from scalpers because they still buy stuff from the vendors.

This is what I received in my email. Last year they did scan the bar code but checking IDs is a new thing this year. I agree with everything iceman stated but I'm just informing you guys of the info I received. I'll find out for sure on preview night Wednesday.
I am looking forward to meeting with all of you. Standing in the for Hasbro would be a good idea but it will take 3+ hours. I can see no other ppl to stand in that line with than my fellow arkers. Dear Comic-Con Attendees, The Comic-Con Terms and Conditions have been updated as follows: Comic-Con International may perform any of the following validation of badges on entry to any area of the convention. These measures are an effort to prevent illegal badge duplication and unauthorized reselling. We may scan the bar code, require a photo ID that matches the name on the badge, scan RFID embedded in the badge, and examine the badge with other technological and/or physical methods to verify authenticity of the badge and holder. Before leaving any registration area please make sure that the name on the badge matches your identification. For more information, please visit: Comic-Con 2012 :: Attendee Registration Terms and Conditions |

I didn't see that in the e-mail. Just the part about only being able to pick up badge holders on the day they are meant for. I think the key word there is that they "may" do these things. Probably just scare tactics to prevent people from buying from scalpers. I get that they want to stop people from reselling the badges for crazy money but I think they are doing enough with the Member ID and badge pick-up process. Adding ID checks at the entrances or random checkpoints is just asking for trouble because it can't possibly work smoothly.
San Diego just needs to expand the Convention Center so the event doesn't sell out anymore. All the craziness only started happened when every year sold out months in advance and that is only because they are limited in the number of tickets they can sell until the venue gets larger. I see no problem with someone leaving at noon and then letting his buddy go for the rest of the day as there is still only one person inside at a time. About the Hasbro booth. I haven't been since '09 but I know their booth always has a crazy line. Anyone think it would be worth it to just hit the line up first thing Thursday morning?

San diego is working through to expand the convention center but the completion date is way out. The past two cons have spread some of the other panels to outside the convention center. SDCC spans out to the hilton hotel and even some of the bars downtown. Greenskar and his girlfriend randomly stumbled onto the ninja turtles pizza party at bar basic. Jolton joes has a gaming area too. By expanding the con, will only create more space to sell more tickets. I think the key is to spread out the con so you don't have all of these bottlenecks in some areas. The Floor will always be crazy crowded. I think they should move the outside vendors to another area IMO. Keep the main floor for the toy kines, video game releases, movie and show stuff, and new release shit.

I'm only going to the con on Friday, but I will be waiting in the Hasbro line as early as I can manage to get a ticket for it (stupid wait in line to get a ticket to wait in line rule). This also depends on whether or not Symbiote and a few other friends are unsuccessful with their attempts Preview night.
This is also the weekend Dark Knight rises opens. I was considering watching the midnight showing at Horton Plaza and then just camping out for the Hasbro line tickets but doubt I can convince my girl to do it, lol.

SDCC 2012 Marvel Universe Exclusive 3-pack - Toy Discussion at Toyark.com ![]() ![]() Who's carrying a couple of these back to their hotel rooms? I thought 3' Sentinel boxes were tough last year, but no, Hasbro has to go to 4'! Mine is one shuttle stop away, at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina. We put in a list of the 25 closest hotels with our number one priority being the closest, and that's what we got. ![]() |

I was never much of a fan of the theater at Horton Plaza but at least it's close. Wost non-dollar theater in the city has to be Hazard center though.
