I recently saw this bit of news on a Tron forum. There was a recent Ebay auction for a Castor figure from the Tron Legacy figure line that was produced by Spin Master resulted in a price tag of over $1100:

Tron Legacy Castor 4 Inch Action Figure (EXTREMELY RARE!!!) | eBay

My question is, how much would you pay for something like this? Hundreds? Thousands? Maybe even millions?

In my opinion there is no figure, no toy, no vehicle, etc. that's worth this kind of money. Maybe it's just me becoming more jaded in my old age but I would have to slap myself silly if I found myself spending this kind of money for something like this, no matter how much I like the franchise it comes from. The thought of it is just ludicrous to me.

Thoughts?

That is a crazy price depending on how many were made. Like if it were a Black Dolphin Deep Six or Pimp Daddy Destro. Packaged samples of them go for thousands. No "hard to find," regular addition, hundreds of thousands made toy is worth that though. Even the hardest to find MU figs only sell for 100's and people actually collect that line.

I kinda feel like MU Blade all over again. He peg warmed around me forever and I never picked him up. But yeah I also just thought that may be some odd prank.

This is not the Tron Kevin Flynn that was sold at Target. It kind of looks like it. It is an uncirulated Castor. I don't know better terminology, because it was produced but the 300+/- figures went straight to Spin Master and never sold in stores. I tried contacting them to buy one but I don't have the right connections. My offer was $200 but I was prepared to pay up to $300.00 (this was before I saw any at auction).
There was one lucky guy that got one under $30.00 off ebay from SE Asian seller.
I would pay over $1000 for a carded Black Hole Humanoid but that is the only one I would pay that much for. I am also very content with all of my $4.00 figures.

I stopped keeping up with this but last I check , there were a few people at tron sector that acquired their Castor as a gift . It does make me wonder if there are really enough people working at Spin Master than want to hoard the remaining figures.

BTW- still havent even seen the movie.

I would never pay that much for a 4" figure. Ever. No matter what it was or how much money I had.

That is because Kevin Flynn is also wearing white. They made smaller Castors as well. But this is for the 4" line.
The story goes that Disney did not approve the likeness of the character /actor
and Spin Master did not have enough time to correct it so they just stopped altogether.
I am just trying to retell the story, I am not sure how accurate this is.
Soon no one will even care.

I am always interisted in stories like this. Its so cool how something can go in to production then just stop like that becouse something wasnt handled ahead of time.

I wouldn't but if someone is a unreleased collector than why not? Paying a G for a 4" tron toy seems stupid but for the person who is a big tron collector and has everything else tron related then it'd make sense. And as its already been mentioned, this has NEVER been released at retail so seeing this at stores would be impossible.
