So I recently bought a BIB hand Play Arts Kai Nero and sure does it look beautiful. However I do note that on his devil arm, some of the white and blue are turning yellow. I'be seen some pictures online that it shouldnt look like that. Although PAK frequently have manufacturer defects (Nero has a bad knee too but he'll survive), this doesnt look like a manufacturer problem.

Any reason why this is happening? And is there any way to cure it other than a repaint?

*previous owner used to display it in a dust proof glass cabinet.

Usually when white or other similar colored plastics turn yellow it's either smoke damage (as in the original owner smoked in the home and a dust proof glass case isn't airtight) or it could be sun damage (overexposure to the sun's light can yellow some toys like some old Stormtroopers I have). I have also seen some of my older white toys yellow slightly even though I don't smoke or leave them in direct sunlight which might just be because of the oils from human skin plus time and the softer plastic used. Hope that helps a little. As to fixing yellowed plastic there's varying methods I've heard of depending on the cause so knowing how would help.

I don't really know the cause of it. Are there any safer ways to try that would most probably prevent removing the paint as well? I tried 65% isopropyl alcohol. It worked very marginally. Any other methods I could give it a shot?

I'm not an expert on this since I've never actually made any attempts to undo it on my old toys but I should think that someone would have to have figured out something. Googling it might be the best way to find numerous options and if an option shows up a lot then it may be worth looking into.

I did a prior search already but i couldn't find much on this. Seems like discoloration doesn't happen too frequently (except hot toys rubber). Thanks for your opinions anyway!

Anyone else have any other suggestions that might help?

Various people have various success whitening plastic parts with Hydrogen Peroxide, oxyclean powder and/or bleach. There are too many different recipes to list, so I'll just let you google "Hydrogen Peroxide to whiten plastic" on your own and pick the formula that you think would work. I will say that I've tried one with Hydrogen Peroxide under sunlight, but didn't work for my Prowl. I think the type of plastic used is also very important in the equation, most people I saw that has success are the ones that whiten lego blocks (higher grade plastic, maybe?) Good luck.

Go to the beauty store and grab a bottle of 40 Volume Creme Developer. Use thin layer on parts that are Yellowing. Set in the sun and when it appears to be dry, add another layer.
You can watch videos on YouTube all day and people restore Yellowing on all sorts of plastics with this stuff. It will not damage other colors.

You can also try this guys procedure since it deals with action figures.
