Not surprised, really. People have been selling WoW items for real-world cash for years. I'm only surprised it's taken this long for the game companies to get in on the action.

That reminds me of a George Carlin bit regarding consumerism:

"If you nail two things together that have never been nailed together before, some schmuck is gonna buy it."

I haven't heard of them doing it, but I also don't buy DLC for my games, so I may have just missed it. Of the current gen systems, I only own a Wii, so any DLC isn't worth the money to me.

Except maybe some of the classic Nintendo games, but I also don't have that much time to play console games anymore.

Even if they did, $10 seems much more reasonable than $100 for a couple megabytes of code (I'm guessing. No idea how big the DLC actually is).

When Diablo III launches they're setting up a place where the players can sell unique items, but a cut of it goes directly to Blizzard. They say its to keep the game free to play online, but I'd guess it is their way on profiting from what people already do.

Even worse I think are those that pay real-world money for Gaia Online items.
That said, $100 for anything that doesn't actually EXIST is really bad.

I can't complain too much, because if Nintendo started charging as the only way to get certain pokemon, I'd probably pay to get Victini... But like hell I'd pay $100 for it. Screw that.
The way I personally feel, charging more than $10 for pixals is rediculous on the part of the company/person doing the charging, and rediculous for those who'd pay it. $10 and below is silly, but I feel somewhat reasonable.

damn whut's so special? like no damage meter, 4 times the nos usage and the ability to fly may justify the price but that's a steep price to pay.

Agreed, but I wouldn't be surprised if the only selling points are it's a shiny car and it's an exclusive.

But that's my cynicism talking again.

I'd say it's either 1 of 3 things.
1, Fastest car period in the game, and could be say an unlockable if you beat the game, but it gives you a massive advantage starting the game

2) invisibility/low radar from the cops

3) unbreakable/ can fly/ full of bitches lol.

y'now, the way i see it, there must be guys with OCD about achievements in games like there are toy collectors, and the video game companys are cashing in on completionists.

What assholes- that's just fucking their customers- intentionally holding back part of the game so they can sell ot to people with money to pay extra is just...dickish.

Like buying a pizza and it's missing a slice that the guy will sell you for an extra ten bucks.

I can see the advantage of purchased content. because the average/limited player won't bother, but the hardcore gamers who want more out of the game will pay the extra $$ to get better weapons, additional levels, new characters. Example MK9 you can buy Freddy Kruger as a character for like $2-3, have yet to do it myself, but it is worth the extra. Now back to the thread topic, the car idea is neat, but the price is rediculous, as it costs more then the game itself, if it was like a couple bucks or perhaps $10 at the very most I could call it reasonable, but this is down right insane!
