Q:
First, I would like to say thank you for making such great collectibles and damn you for hurting my wallet Question: Wouldn’t it be great if you or Marvel had a celebration of some kind to make an exclusive Namor VS Human Torch diorama as an ode to the first real superheroes? If you don’t want to make another Namor diorama, could you please make a Human Torch Legendary Scale Bust, who is catching fire with light-up function? Thanks for everything!

A:
You’re welcome, and we’re sorry about your wallet! Both of your suggestions are good ones and match well with candidates in our planning. Nothing is in development yet, but we will nudge along the concepts.

Q:
Looking forward to the 1/2 scale Iron Man Mark 3 maquette, but reading on a few forums, the Iron Man bust had paint problems [bubbles in paint work], so I’m a bit worried about buying this product. Have the paint problems been resolved, or was it just a bad batch?

A:
The 1:2 Scale Iron Man Mk 3 was produced at a different factory from the Iron Man Bust, and our production team has reviewed each and every piece first-hand prior to granting approval for shipment of the final product. We’ve received the first production pieces at the Sideshow offices, and they are fantastic! We believe that customers who have the 1:2 scale Iron Man pre-ordered will start to receive their orders in February, and then you’ll have first hand testimony about the paint quality.

Q:
The new Hulkbuster comiquette looks fantastic! Congratulations on another amazing piece. One quick question: Is the statue 1/6 or 1/5 scale? It’s identified as 1/6 on the Sideshow Collectibles sites, but it’s listed as 1/5 on sculptor Pablo Viggano’s own site… Which one is it?

A:
From our best assessment, the piece is closest to 1:6 scale - although it is debatable because it’s such a large piece. Tony Stark’s portrait certainly seems to be 1:6 scale. With the helmeted head on the Hulkbuster armor, it could easily be displayed with other pieces in 1:4, 1:5, or 1:6 scale and look reasonably proportioned.

Q:
As a distributor of Hot Toys, do you know: Was the Nightcrawler figure mention just a setup for that April Fool’s gag or are they actually doing X-Men film characters beyond Wolverine?

A:
We haven’t gone to the source to confirm, but we believe that the Nightcrawler figure was a gag. We’ll definitely pass along your interest in a real Nightcrawler figure!

Q:
Love the Adam Hughes Marvel women statues.. He’s done some fine DC covers..(i.e. Power Girl/Wonder Woman etc.)Do you or are you able to look at DC licensing? Does your Marvel licensing require that you cannot look at other companies’ characters? And are you looking at some of the more mainstream Marvel Females..specifically Ms. Marvel.. seems this character is always overlooked and would make a great statue.

A:
Yes, Sideshow is very interested in taking on the DC Universe. As for Ms. Marvel, in some form - stay tuned to our upcoming newsletters

Q:
Now that we have seen the Cyclops Premium Format/Comiquette sneak is there a chance we will see a Colossus PF/Com in the near future? These 2 characters proved extremely popular on the 1st Vs Dio, and the giant Russian would look amazing in 1/4 scale!

A:
We’re able to confirm that the Cyclops figure currently in development is 1:4 scale, and the Colossus currently in development is approximately 1:5 scale. Yes, it is likely that Cyclops will see release in the future in a complementary scale to your favorite Russian, and vice-versa. We do intend both PF and Comiquette pieces for both characters.

Q:
Any chance we will see a Legendary Scale Bust of Iron Man in his Classic armor?

A:
You’re interest is duly noted, and we’ll pass along your suggestion. As much as we adore Iron Man, we are sensitive to spacing out the Iron Man offerings, and with Iron Man 2 releasing this year, we have a LOT of Iron Man to offer you.

Q:
Are you planning on an Iron Man Mark III movie comiquette in a smaller scale? Because the 1/2 scale maquette is a bit expensive…also, what about a new Spider-Man Premium Format? For the new collectors who’ve missed the old Spideys…

A:
We’re definitely working on smaller scale movie based Iron Man maquettes from Iron Man 2 but not the Mark III version from the first Iron Man film (yet). We are working on a new Spider-Man Comiquette in scale with the Venom and Carnage Comiquettes, which is approximately 1:4 scale.

Q:
It’s been a while since we have seen anything from the Spider-Man movies. Seeing how Part 4 starts production next year, are there any plans to revisit this line, with respects to parts 1 and 2? I would love to see a diorama with Doc Oc from part 2!

A:
We’ve been evaluating the Spider-Man trilogy for product ideas in anticipation of Spider-Man 4. With the recent rumors about the possibility of a Spider-Man reboot in lieu of Spider-Man 4, all Spider-Man movie considerations are on hold until some real news is announced.

Q:
How are things going with the Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister Premium Formats or Comiquettes? *wink*

A:
You’re interest is duly noted, we’ll pass along a nudge for the design team.

Q:
I like that you guys are working with some of the best talent in the comic book business right now, but how do you guys determine as to which comic book artist to work with? P.S. If I may suggest another great comic book artist, I would like to nominate Dale Keown.

A:
We’ve had the great pleasure of being introduced to Adam Hughes, Mark Brooks, Frank Cho, and Ariel Olivetti by near and dear friends and associates. If you’re a fan or friend of any comic book artists, tell them to get in touch with us!

Q:
Is there any development of a Premium Format figure, Comiquette or Maquette of Firestar from Spider-Man and his amazing friends, or a Susan Storm from Fantastic Four? That would be awesome!

A:
Firestar has yet to appear in any of our planning, but Sue Storm is a near certainty.
