I know that this isn't toy related so if the mods want to move this somewhere more appropriate (I don't know where though?) I apologize.

Has anybody been watching this show? I have to admit, I'm absolutely addicted. I know it doesn't follow the comics (original avengers) and in truth they are more in linking with modern comics considering the hints they've thrown at us (Civil War, Skrull etc)

What do you guys think of this show?

I have to admit, not to sound cliche, but there is a lot of action (in a good way). And I love the subtle humor they thrown into it (although Hulk has turned into a bit of a comic relief character).

Thoughts?

A friend suggested the show to me and I still haven't taken him up on it, mainly due to time. He repeatedly tells me I MUST watch it because it is so much better than he ever thought it'd be. So maybe I will try to start fitting it in with a second marvel fan's recommendation. :x

With every made for television show based off of comics, I think you have to go in there thinking it will not be true to the comics.

TRUTH: This show does not follow the true Avengers comic pound for pound. They do have the Loki thread, Red Skull, Masters of Evil etc etc etc, but you can't correlate it back to specific issues.

All the same it is incredibly enjoyable as the show drops MASSIVE hints towards their future directions.

Probably my favorite show on TV right now. Love it and I'm waiting to get the first season on DVD. I slept in this morning and I'm about to watch "Ultron-5" in a bit.

Same here, I missed Ultron 5, but I may catch it tonight at 9:30.

This show is great because it doesn't just take stuff from 616, but also from the Ultimates line. I personally love when an episode is focusing on two members and their different views. Thor/Iron Man banter was great, and they eventually worked it out in the end.

I can't wait for next season to see the revamped costumes. The designs looked great.

ive seen the entire first season, its the best cartoon since JLu for me. i didnt think it was going to be as good as it was. aparently they have made around 13 episodes of season 2 so far i read somewhere.

really really odd that there is no toy line accompanying this as its such a good show and is liked by children and adults alike.

I wondered about that as well because there are some characters (mainly Ant-Man/Giant-Man) I'd like to get to go with my MU stuff.

I kinda hope they don't make one. If anything I'd rather see them put feature figures in the MU or Cap or Avengers Assemble line.

Here is something weird...out of all the toy commercials I've seen..I've never seen one for Thor, Cap, Iron Man (save for the helmut) or MU. All of this lack of advertising, who are they supposing their target audience is?

OR are they letting all the media (movies, TV shows) do the advertising for them?

Do you mean the designs? They should be on Youtube. The videos are a BTS look with Chris Yost, they are included on both DVD releases.

Yep the designs. Thanks for the tip. I had a total geek moment when Tony came out in the Mark 1 on Avengers this morning.

Of course they SHOULD make a line. why on earth not? Its like me saying they shouldnt make a hawkeye figure if im not fussed about having him, im sure his fans would love to have him. Its no skin off my nose if they make him haha

This animated show is nothing to do with MU or the whole avengers assemble movie thing at all. The style is completely different. it is its own seperate entity with its own seperate style that is nothing like MU figures.

Fans of the show would want to see animated style figures that reflect the animation of the show.

Even a mediocre show like Wolverine and The X-Men (which is by no means bad) got its own line and Avengers is 10 times better.

Totally get what you are saying about the lack of MU promotion. Ive never seen any.

I go back and forth between the toyline debate to be honest though.

We know they do not promote the toys and I think thats because they let the movies do that for them. There is A LOT of media out there just talking about Marvel superheroes, so its in the mainstream.

Hasbro has brilliantly designed a toy scheme which gives us a stream for the Universe characters (MU). And of course the sister lines such as Iron Man 2 and Thor and Cap have fed into that but they are conglomerating that line into an Avengers Assemble line which will build into the movie.

So between the movies and now A:EMH, wouldn't it just be smarter for them to have the Avengers Assemble line which can be cross marketed between the movies and the show?

I DO see what you're saying about how it is own seperate entity and that makes a lot of sense. A movie Thor looks a helluva a lot different then an A:EMH Thor.

But, Disney/Hasbro/Marvel are smart enough at this point to promote Thor for the movie by doing that "Origin of Thor all day event" thing a few weeks ago, which was suppose to get kids to go see the movie then to buy the toy.

The entire Marvel market is incredibly incestuous, thats just how it is. They standalone in story and in design but in terms of marketing they are built to have kids and collectors want to see the movie/tvshow/toyline whatever. I just think another toyline would add competition to the current product out there.

It's well known that Marvel Universe figures and it's sister lines are probably A) one of the most popular lines going B)one of the HARDEST lines to get a hold of because of the first point (between kids, collectors and scalpers) but also because of the innundation of repetetiive product.

I'm not saying anything new here at all. It's just one brief lesson into the dynamics of the Marvel toyline. But all of this is to say look at the market. Nobody can find figures, everybody wants them, and the mainstream pop culture is completely abuzz about Marvel. We can sit here and way the pros/cons of a A:EMH toyline, but in my opinion...I'd rather see them crossmarket and cross produce those characters into the current lines that are out there.

Thats all to say of course, if they did come out with it...I wouldn't complain and I'd buy it.

But...I'd rather see an MU Baron Zemo before an A:EMH Zemo

I dig the show, dvr'd a bunch of episodes, good show, lots of action, great voice over work, good animation, and classic characters. I may buy/burn the box set sometime.

Thanks for making this thread. I recently started watching the marvel cartoon movies and read earlier on a thread about someone mentioning this show that I never heard of. I'm going to have to watch them on YouTube or torrent them as I really liked the first cartoon avengers movie. I have the first and second on bluray but haven't had a chance to see the second movie.

I love this show lke mad- I watch them on youtube (no Disney XD in my area) and they are insanely great.
Best Wasp portrayal ever- far better than the comics ever was!

The only thing I kinda hate are Iron Man's eyes- the blue sorta asiatic look is just...wrong.
Everything else is perfection- Kang! Damn he was great! SO tough!

All that being said, I DONT want a EMH line of figures- I dont want it to nock out MU ad to be honest, the look of the cartoon does not translate well into toys- both the DCU and Wolverinr and the X-Men lines sucked.

Marvel/Hasbro needs to get on the ball and make MU toy commercial for this show!
Of course, that would make us finding rare figs even harder, but it'd be worth it to ensure the line goes on!

Tarquinius I see what you are saying mate. I havent thought about a possible Avengers line taking away from Marvel Universe sales by competing with it. But its all money in the same companys pocket. It hasnt stopped them making toy lines for the Latest spider-man cartoons, iron man armored avengers or whatever its called, the one where he was a kid, superhero squad, wolvy and x-men.

Avengers seems to be the only one that they havent announced a toy line for and it is in my opinion and alot of other people it seems; marvels best cartoon in recent years. So i am fuuuuming that they dont have a line (yet)

a petition needs to be started if by SDCC in july they havent shown us anything.

the series is going to its second series soon so hopefully they will being the line.

looking forward to seeing ronan the accuser in the second series!!!

this is a great thread! my fav cartoon at the mo!

Jason dont worry about an avengers line knocking out MU. MU is so big and is the main concentration of marvel toys at the moment and fans love it. so i wouldnt worry.

the EMH animation style would translate perfectly to animated figure form. it is very similar (all be it a little rougher) than timmverse JLU style. and those figs are fan favourites. yes i agree they got it all wrong with the wolvy figs they were pants. they dropped the ball.

what DCU figs are you talking about? surely not JLU?

JLU are some of the most popular figures amongst fans. the line has ran for like 6 years after the last episode finished which is an amazing thing.

animated style figures can sometimes be the best for people who are fans of the old school. some people dont care about 100 points of articulation and a working immune system on a toy. its not the most important thing to kids either. they just want the damn character. and are aparently happy with any accessory that fires something according to pretty much all boys toys designers.

animated figs are so far from MU style figs i dont see any competition between them. thats just me though.

MU does deserve some more attention like commercials... or adverts as we call them on this side of the pond
