So we want the MU line to last. How? Sales of course. Therfore, I came up with a stupid, money saving, cool idea. Let EVERY single carded figure get a near paint-free, black-n-white, "Original Art" style chase variant. Like the "Original Art" sold at Sotheby's, Christie's, and fine art auctions, it pays high homage as a reminder, these are fine works of hand made - original art. Such variants require less paint / less money. Less color ink to print upon equally slick, eye catching, minimalist, Black-n-White; blister cards. Ensures a percentage of sales, blanketing EVERY figure. Overall, an economic way Hasbro can further our collecting hobby, MU line, and overall SALES!

Very cool idea, but judging by the unwarranted backlash on the "comic style detailing" of Cyclops, Storm and a few others, I don't think this will be a big seller unfortunately even though I'd be one of first on the bandwagon.

Thanks! Its definitively a cool idea. However, you do have an important point on Storm, Cyclops, etc. Maybe if we test paint this "comic style detailing" on a more simple black-n-white palette (like Neca's TMNTs) it may turn out differently, hopefully better, than if in color. Maybe even take that same Storm or Cyclops to experiment what they look like in black-n-white. Any brave souls, with artistic talent, wanna try a custom of your favorite figure / blister carded character in black-n-white "Original Art" style?

They kinda sort of did. Its black-n-white. More of a "shades of dark gray" old photo of Capt not so much a Capt drawn from an artist's hand, penned in black ink on a white page. SDCC Capt is preeminently charcoal, dark, gray. Opposite that an "Original Art" Capt should be molded in plastic preeminently brighter / whiter (white like the paper of an original piece of comic art). So though both Capts are black-in-white, the differences of the 2 on preeminenting hues alone, will literally be as very different as black and white. Molding it in a white plastic (like the TMNT of Neca) saves more paints / saves more money. That's the goal. Save Hasbro money on less paints, while furthering sales of the MU line, and giving EVERY single carded figure a variant for collectors to chase as rare items.

May even be worth doing a repaint of a new 3.75 figure inspired by this guy. One knows that I have enough 3.75 Spideys to spare.
