My sister is flying to Mexico next month and I asked her to pick me up some toys. How much trouble will it be to bring them back? Does anyone know what she'll have to declare, or if there will be any problems with customs?

Basically I need to know how many badly painted, lead-tainted Incredible Hulks my sister can shove in a suitcase without creating an international incident.

I've never had a problem bringing toys through customs. All I do is just stick 'em in a suitcase and go.

basically shouldn't be any trouble just depends on how much stuff you want and expect her to take back... as for every extra lb of merchandise you go over w.e limit they say you $$ so much extra ie.... if the limit is 5lbs and you buy 10lbs extra to bring back it may cost you $20 extra to do it or w.e the fee.... also some places in mexico would have actual quality figures... but most would have cheap knockoffs

some of thoes cheap knockoffs are cool though. but in any case another thought is have her ship them from mexico to the states and declare the customs value low. this may be cheaper then carying them over.

I've tried to ship to and from Mexico before, and it can get extremely expensive. Exactly how much stuff are planning on buying?

Edit: Sorry; I thought bluebikerboy was DrewBlank. Nevermind.

My sister is taking shoes for poor children in her suitcase, so I thought between $50 and $100 in knock-offs would fill up the empty space on the way back.

Why do I suddenly feel like I'm using my sister as a toy mule?

Because you techically are?

I haven't heard of any issues with taking toys over the border, but I've never been to Mexico myself, so I can't really say for certain. I would say call Customs and see what they can tell you about the rules and regulations.
